How does it work and why is the death of Jesus important? I don't understand how I am made right with God because of Jesus dying. How does Jesus dying, even if He did rise again, relate to God forgiving me of sin? What do you guys mean when you talk about all of this???

Re: Christians, what does "salvation through Jesus" mean? When you guys talk about that, what do you mean exactly?
Bible way to Heaven
Know your a sinner
Rom 3:23 KJV - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
realize the penalty for Sin..hell
Rev 21:7 KJV - He that overcometh, shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be my sonne.
Rev 21:8 KJV - But the feareful, and unbeleeving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone , which is the second death.
Who is he that overcometh?
1Jo 5:5 KJV - Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Jesus was born of a virgin lived a sinless life, the life that none of us could live, was crucified by hes own people he died and went to hell, rose again on the third day so you do not have to go there...
Rom 5:8 KJV - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus wants to give us the Gift of eternal Life for free!!
Rom 6:23 KJV - For the wages of sin [is] death: but the gift of God [is] eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

So why not call upon him and make him your saviour.. its a free gift and once your saved you have passed from death to life... you will live forever..
Jhn 5:24 KJV - Verily, verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation: but is passed from death unto life.
Rom 10:9 KJV - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart, that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 KJV - For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 KJV - For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him, shall not be ashamed.

Heres a simple prayer which if you mean it with your heart will see you saved and on your way to heaven..
Dear Jesus I know im a sinner , I know i deserve to goto Hell, but I realize you died and rose again please forgive my sin and take me to heaven when i die.. im only trusting you Jesus Amen..

Salvation is easy and Free.

The next step is to be Baptised, but thats a choice you make.. Jesus said
Jhn 14:15 KJV - If ye love me, keep my commandments.
The first commandment is Baptism.. and obviously the keeping of 10 commandments..
But if you don't do these things you still have the Gift of eternal life... so Rejoice.. but Id advise you to follow Jesus and read hes word.. start of in the book of John KJV
Find a Baptist church that preachs By Grace Through Faith , no repent of your sins for salvation heresy, KJV (1611) only..
goodluck..

Re: Christians, what does "salvation through Jesus" mean? When you guys talk about that, what do you mean exactly?
honestly my friend, it is all very confusing to understand but i will try to explain it the best i can :]

way back when the origional jesus was chillen around drinkin some wine and smokin some burning bush, the world was a hateful place, like what you see around you today, all in all when the romans crucified, beat, and for some reason as if a headband of thorns wasnt enough, they decided to stab him too. what all of this symbolizes is the love he had for god and the message he was trying to spread to the world about him, so, jesus, being the awesome dude he was decided that he would go along with it at the time, and in doing so, was able to return to life showing that he was indeed the spirit of god, also in dying he took upon the sin of mankind and cleansed the world of evil, it died along with him

unfortunatly, humanity stopped beliving and in doing so, sin returned as evil has taken its grasp

now days, christians have gone as far as to say they can save other people in the name of christ, but, it doesnt work like that, one man cannot say to another they are saved in christs name like one man should not kill another becuse it is not their right as a human being

being saved by christ is a very intensely important decision only one can make as a personal choice, no help needed, no church required, you dont even really need a bible, all you have to do is know there is a god, know jesus will soon make himself known to the world, be more open minded to other religions and theological ideas, and lead a moraly just life

there is so much to life that common people do not understand and when given the truth, they refuse to listen, but my friend, i am not a common person :]

if you want more info let me know, i am full of knowledge and am always more than willing to share, for only the ones who are willing to listen are the ones willing to learn :]

peace and love brother, and may god smile upon your every day adventures, for life itself is one of many adventures your soul will expirence

p.s. when you usualy ask someone about something in the bible they tell you some kind of quote or something from the bible that usualy leads to more questions, so really, it just makes more questions than it answers

Adam the first Man sinned against god and the earth became cursed. Jesus as a man was perfect in that he fulfilled all of Gods words and took mans sin on to himself so that we who believed in, on and as him could be resurrected with him.

Re: Christians, what does "salvation through Jesus" mean? When you guys talk about that, what do you mean exactly?
Easiest way I can explain it.

Way back in the garden of Eden the world was perfect, sinless. When Eve ate the fruit from the tree of life, sin entered the world. Sin seperates us from God and must be atoned for with blood. (reason for the sacrifices by the Isrealites in the OT) That type of sacrifice only covered sin, not remove it. Jesus was the Word of God made flesh. He lived a sinless life and became our sacrifice. He took the sin of the world upon Himself and took our punishment in our place. We have our salvation through Him. As a believer, when God sees me, He sees His son. I have been covered by His sacrificial death on the cross. In His resurrection I have new life because He has overcome death.
It is a free gift. You have the choice to recieve it or not. There are no magic words you need to say or anything you can do to earn your way to Heaven. If that were true, His death would be in vain. You just need to understand you are a sinner in need of forgivenss. Thank Jesus for dying for you, taking a punishment you could not bear. Believe in your heart he rose from the dead. Repent. There will always be mockers. You need to decide for yourself whether you want to mock or to believe.

Re: Christians, what does "salvation through Jesus" mean? When you guys talk about that, what do you mean exactly?
Let me Ask you this. How much of à sacrifice is his death when he knew when he was going? If he now was the son of god he might have kniwn about where he was heading when he died.

Tradeing being bullied and tourtured with being in heaven, well i dont think anyone can say anything by that. So for Jesus doing anything that wasent in his own gaining is à puré lie.

Its like if you were stuck in à 3rd world contry and getting beaten Everyday wouldent you go home if you could.

Christianity is raising Jesus to the heavens for doing that, going home... If he was à good Guy he wouldent abandon humanity, he would have stayed and looked after his people. But no, hes doing nothing, and all you chrisians can do is blame others and other religions for all the bad things in the world when the fact is still that you are the fuel for the pure evil in this world.

If you wanna show your good side you could start with releasing all the books in vatican libary and get the pobe to explain why church burnt down the libary in alexandria, why they killed all the people in europe and why they forced à religion upon people who had been fine without it for eons.

Re: Christians, what does "salvation through Jesus" mean? When you guys talk about that, what do you mean exactly?
op the Bible says we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. we cannot qualify for eternal life on our own -- our most righteous works are but filthy rags to Him

propitiation = Jesus took our sins on the cross, they were nailed with Him. we believe in Him, and we receive His righteousness in exchange. Jesus never sinned and became the perfect sacrifice required by God to pay the price for us -- all of us.

the gospel is: Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He was buried, and He rose from the grave the third day to provide all who believe in Him the free gift of eternal life ;-) we are saved the moment we believe, and sealed with His Holy Spirit as a guarantee.

imputation = the Holy Spirit enters our body as a down payment. at the same time we become in Christ. we are in Christ and His Spirit is in us ;-)

it's the best deal going -- I can never be good no matter how hard I try. fortunately Jesus was already good for me. I believe in Him,His finished work on the cross, and that He is alive today inside of me --I have victory in Him

we are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ!

love peace and joy

Re: Christians, what does "salvation through Jesus" mean? When you guys talk about that, what do you mean exactly?
In a nutshell:

Basically mankind was given a choice at the start... obey God or don't... Adam and Eve (the first two sentient humans) disobeyed God. Sin came into the world (creation) and God, for whatever reason, cannot abide around sin - He just can't deal with it... so a kind of rift or split came between mankind and God. That rift of "sin" (call it evil, or being unlike God if you prefer) dooms every human being to have their soul destroyed in the end (physical death means nothing, the soul is eternal and can inhabit any body.) Now, it is only possible for the soul to be destroyed by God (in what the bible calls the "lake of fire.")

Anyhow, many thousands of years later, God, for many reasons (including love and understanding) chose to come down, inhabit a human body and show us a better way. It is actually a great story, no other God from any other religion has ever come down and become a frail human being to understand what life is like for us here. God's end game was to live a life without sin (or evil, or whatever you want to call it,) teach us how we SHOULD live in order to have peace in the world and then be the sacrifice for us so that anyone who chooses to believe in this great love story does not have to die (eternally) but can live forever. It took a perfect life (with no sin, as Jesus) to die in order for God to substitute that perfect life in place of our own (well, for those who believe and accept the death of Jesus and the hope that he has saved us who believe from the judgement of God.) Anyhow, God knew no one else could do it because mankind was so easily mislead, so He knew if He wanted to have a chance at saving some of His children that He would have to do it Himself. And He did.

Now, anyone who believes and accepts Jesus as their saviour won't pay the ultimate price of death in the end. Their soul will live on and be given a new, perfect body once this life is over. So when the time comes for your judgement, God will look at you and see that Jesus (or God Himself) paid the ultimate price for your sin and failures as a fallible human being so that you don't have to. So you won't be judged and sentenced to eternal death...

So, without throwing scripture at you, this is the basic way that salvation works. For those who never heard of the good news of Jesus or that ever encountered the Law (read: ten commandments) - then they will be judged based on their good deeds versus their evil deeds (as the bible tells us that the morale law was written in our hearts.) However, if someone presented Jesus to you and you didn't accept, then you have no excuse before God and your soul will be destroyed in the lake of fire. (some kind of energy field?)

Re: Christians, what does "salvation through Jesus" mean? When you guys talk about that, what do you mean exactly?
Everyone is born into sin. We inherit. All are sinners. BEcause God is perfect and holy and just, he cannot allow sin to enter heaven. Because of your sin, you are condemned to die. The wages of Sin is death. Jesus, God manifested in the flesh, came down to pay for your sin. He lived a perfect sinless life so he was innocent. He died on the cross, paid your penalty of the 2nd death, and suffered for you.

Think of it this way. You are in court and are convicted of a crime. The judge sentences you to die. Someone steps in and says, I'll pay the penalty for this person. The judge says OK, whatever, but the crime must be paid for. You have two choices at that point. Accept the gift of payment for your crime that this person is offering, or pay it yourself. Jesus is offering to pay for your sins via his death and resurrection. All you have to is realize youre a sinner and accept his gift of eternal life. There is nothing you can physically do to be saved. It's strictly through faith. Mans righteousness is as filthy rags before a perfect holy God. No sacraments, no baptism, no act of charity, nothing.

For by grace are ye saved though faith and that not of your selves, it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

It's entirely internal. They say the magic words, or think a certain thought, and they are absolved from having to take any responsibility for the real world and any of their actions in it.
