I am a veteran, myself, and as I said, unless a vet opts out of VA care, they _screen_ every veteran during each and every primary care checkup in any and all VA clinics, including satellite clinics (such as the one in kenosha, WI)...

Basically, the only ones who would not have known by now about agent orange would be survivors of passed on vets, those taking care of a dying vet (not thru the VA system), and those who are not interested in treatment through the VA system.

I already spelled that out, but there it is, again.

You should check because they still have more records than most folks assune. Vets and family can request what is there to see for free at: [link to www.archives.gov]
It only took a DD-214 to show I was in Vietnam and it assumed you were exposed just by being there. you will need current medical records for what the ailment caused by AO is. I started getting compensation 2 mo. ago. Find out and file right away as compensation is from the file date even if it takes months to hear. Contact the VSO at your local VA clinic or hospital for assistance.

I understand, however many VETS do opt out of care because they don't know the care is available to them. Many VETS do not and have not immediately reported to Veteran's Affairs after they are discharged. All VETS do not respond the same.

Again, thank you for stating your information. However, I feel a hostility in the fact that you know these things and think that other VETS and their family members do know it or should know it as well.

I'm not here to argue. I'm here to inform.

This information is very old though, with some lawsuits dating back to 1977...if a veteran didn't know, it's highly unlikely at this point in time.

I'm not being hostile, I'm informing you as well. It's possible that people or their families fell through the cracks, however you should target the families (survivors) of those veterans, and not necessarily the veterans themselves.

You want to see hostile, you haven't seen nuthin yet.

FYI...I did not know about it until my bro. told me and even after filing and getting compensation I still have not been screened with an herbicide exposure test. Don't ever assume the VA does the same everywhere. And the lord knows they don't go looking for people to compensate. They are fast tracking because they were directed to by the current administration! I can tell you there are many Vietnam Vets with AO problems that don't know.

Yeah right, 36 years later. We know the government is broke. They are cutting medical, social security, disability, unemployment, schools, ect. Why in the hell do you think they are going to pay anyone anything else!!!!

They must know the SHTF soon, so just play along with them...

-_- There are no herbicide tests...think they can test for dioxins. The screening I'm talking about are specific questions during each and every physical, as well as most times that you talk to the urgent care nurse line...
"Were you present in vietnam during such and such a time frame"...even me? I'm not even old enough and been asked this question more times than I can count. Unless someone is too stubborn to go to the VA for any healthcare...they ask these screening questions (or technically the nurse at the beginning of any annual physical exams, as well as at any VA ER/urgent care appt)....

I'm not being rude, just explaining what I've seen. I've seen this at all VA hospitals for the last several years.

I don't mean to offend anyone. I'm just saying there are verbal screening questions they are required to ask: specifics? 1) heart questions 2) genetic questions (relatives with certain illness 3) any known illnesses 4) OIF/OEF ? (even just being in during that time flags it now and they refer for an appt) 5) Agent Orange 6) PTSD screening Q's (including MST related PTSD)...all these are just verbal questions...it really is a 20 minute verbal battery of questions. I'm not wrong. Unless a veteran isn't seen at a VA hospital, doesn't believe in hospitals, etc, or basically---if they are seen regularly and go to all their VA related appts, it is _very_ hard to miss this.

There are no letters, but there's an active search going on, right now, at all the VA hospitals. It is a systematic search via appointments. No, they aren't hunting these people down to tell them. This is unfortunate for those that fear hospitals or don't want to be seen at VA hospitals.

If you really want to keep arguing, go ahead. I'm not arguing, and if you claim that you aren't, then you should just be glad for this info and move on.

We are only down the road a bit from you, in Lexington, KY. The VA here is decent, it's not as good as private care but they have some fairly decent doctors, and you don't wait 6 months to be seen. We can get an appt within a month or so, depending. The memphis VA could hire me as a Dr and I could do a better job than them. I would not bring my dog to the Memphis VA. Fayetteville AR is pretty good as well. They are the one's who finally decided to listen to me and give my hubby exploratory surgery and provide him with some relief.

There IS an herbicide screening that was being used before more AO diseases were recently added to the list of illnesses assumed to be due to AO exposure. It was recommended that I request one when I filed and NO ONE at VA has asked the kind of questions you are talking about. I must say again you are making assumptions that they do the same things everywhere and there are many facilities! You know of them ALL? They didn't at the hospital I was examined at! I'm not arguing either! Moving on as directed!

I totally agree, if everyone would ban pesticides, round up, DDT products it would put all these big businesses out really quick. Also if people would not buy GMO seeds only buy organic heriloom seeds, I just watched a video how a farmers field in the US is being posioned by a mysterious disease, all the plants flowers, and crops have a strange disease and are dying. The farmer said she thinks there is a connection because of the farm next to her constantly spraying chemicals. She also find dead birds around constantly. She only uses organic products and pesticides.

I also met a gentlemen last month who has had stage 4 lung cancer for 10 years and the hospital told him it was from Agent Oarnge he was exposed to in vietnam.

I get local care in Decatur, IL at a satellite, the area hospital is in Danville. So far it has been good! I went to AIT at Ft. Knox years ago. Good luck to you and yours!

There is no need to join...if you call or go to the nearest VA clinic or hospital and ask for the VSO (Veterans Service Officer) they will connect you up. They are either AMVETS, VFW, DAV etc. It varies by locallity and they will represent you for free in filing a claim. I joined after I got approved out of gratitude and have donated too.

Would you like me to change it? I picked it from the choices. I was under the impression that once an avatar was in use, it was off of the avatar choices.

We are represented by the KDVA. They didn't do much to help us. We finally got rated at 100. It doesn't stop my husbands suffering but at least he got what he deserves. Great info though and TY for sharing.

Here's the problem
As soon as you walk in and tell them you are a Nam Vet and claiming agent orange compensation you have to see a psychiatrist. Ninety percent are diagnosed with PTSD. With the new laws, no one with a psychiatric illness is allowed to purchase a weapon.
Buy your guns and ammo before you go for the AO benefits.

That's a pretty _big_ problem.

After how many destroyed lives? After how many destroyed families?

Plus, their timing is superb. They are gonna compensate these vets & families with a failed fiat currency.

It's way past time to dissolve fedgov. We really can't afford to wait.
