MATTHEW 19: 23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. |

Jesus was still alive on the cross when He told the thief "Today you will be in paradise." While Jesus was still alive hanging on the cross the Old Testament was still in effect; After Jesus died the New Testament came into effect and with it the requirement for full emersion baptism. In my opinion if someone who is on their deathbed accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior, I don't think Jesus command to "Believe and be baptised" will be held against them. They will go to Heaven in this instance. |

Proverbs 29:9 [If] a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, [there is] no rest. |

How do you know the man on the cross wasn't baptized? 2nd... Do you think to believe in Jesus means believe what he says?? Therefore if Jesus "says" to be baptized then maybe one should |

John 3:5 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1188131Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. We are all born of water into this world when our mothers water broke during the process of birth. We must then be washed by the spiritual waters of the Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God. |

The ideal is for a person to be saved, then to mature into the full statue of Jesus Christ. The new birth is just that...a birth, it is a beginning. Baptism is an act of obedience, and obedience is crutial to the maturing Christian. So, is it necessary for Salvation...not according to the thief on the cross, but is it necessary for other Christians for salvation. A better question would be, "Is obedience necessary for salvation"; the answer to that is an emphatic YES! We need to watch out when we try to limit the things of God by our "box" that we place God into. God extended Salvation to the thief, on the cross, he was as obedient as he was given the opportunity to do so. God is a Just God and judges according to the heart. Obedience is necessary for the maturing Christian to grow into what God intended for them to become. "Glory is what happens when faith overcomes adversity." |

But only the Kingdom of God is everywhere and eternal for one who "entered", the Absolute. |

I indeed baptize you in (with) water because of repentance [that is, because of your changing your minds for the better, heartily amending your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins]. But He Who is coming after me is mightier than I, Whose sandals I am not worthy or fit to take off or carry; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 1 Peter 1:7 King James Version That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 2 Peter 3:12 Amplified Bible While you wait and earnestly long for (expect and hasten) the coming of the day of God by reason of which the flaming heavens will be dissolved, and the [ material] elements [of the universe] will flare and melt with fire? Revelation 8:5 King James Version And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. |
