What is ejecting out of the top of the sun just after the flare event??

Looks like a comet on the far side. Maybe triggered the flare.

I know there are lots of Suspicious Observer members
on GLP--so the word of the post may have reached his
ear. To Ben's credit, though, lots of time all the
information about a specific solar event trickles out
with "little crumbs" from the various space agencies
and he can't put the whole picture together for several
days. He OBVIOUSLY to a moment to say:...WOAH NELLY!
This was much bigger than I originally thought!" It's
good for all of us to be able to correct ourselves...
(Like my Sun "pooped" the bed comment that I won't use
again! lol!)

Rolling waves of X-Ray flux have increased the background levels nearly 10-fold. The source is the new hyperactive far-side AR approaching the east limb today near the equator. Several of last week's massive CMEs came from this AR.

Old AR2838, of X-flare fame, has finally returned from its transit of the far side. It seems much calmer now, but it's still a viable active region.

SOMETHING FLARE-Y THIS WAY COMES: The southeastern limb of the sun is seething with activity. During the late hours of July 19th, Earth-orbiting satellites detected multiple long-duration solar flares as glowing masses of plasma and magnetic arches surged into view. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the action:

The source of the turmoil is one or more sunspots hidden behind the limb of the sun. They won't remain hidden for long. The sun's rotation is turning the 'spots toward Earth, and we should be able to see them in the next day or two.

Update: The eruptions of July 19th also hurled a CME into space. The storm cloud will not hit Earth. Future CMEs might, however, as the underlying blast site rotates in our direction later this week.

Solar Activity

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was at low levels. A C1.1 flare occurred at 20/2337 UTC
and appears to be from a region around the east limb. Region 2842
(N25W54, Dai/beta) grew in area but the region was inactive. Region 2845
(S15W50, Axx/alpha) nearly decayed to plage. Region 2846 (N25E63,
Cso/beta) rotated further into view and was evident as a bipolar group.
New NOAA/SWPC Region 2847 (S29E74, Cro/beta) was assigned but was
largely unremarkable.

A ~5 degree filament centered at approximately N26E65 erupted from the
visible disk from 20/1600-1630 UTC. The DSF was associated with a
B5-level enhancement at 20/1633 UTC. CME signatures were evident in
available GOES-16 SUVI imagery and we await updated coronagraph imagery
to analyze further.

.Forecast...
Solar activity is expected to remain very low, with a chance for C-class
flares 21-23 Jul.

A new sunspot region has been birthed midway between 2846 and mid-disk. According to SOLARHAM it's been numbered AR2848 (He must get some inside info unless he's just making it up like I do, haha).

AR2842 came over as a med/small alpha spot and has quietly and slowly grown into a potential flare producer. It is now the largest sunspot group on the disk.This AR has unusual magnetic physical configuration of N-S as opposed to the normal W-E fields. Due to the sun rotating faster towards the equator, this sometimes leads to intense flare-ups when the opposite polarities come in close proximity. Something to be alert for.
