SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)

I believe the SoHO images are processed at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. Same for STEREO... of course I could be wrong. I'm just going by my faulty memory, lol. The Stanford University site needs a back-up Plan B IMHO. SDO is a remarkable resource and needs to be beefed-up for the oncoming Solar Max.

No signs yet of any CME impact.... still a possibility later on.

So glad that you posted this as I was curious about
that "eclipse" as well.

So that would mean that the SAT (which one) that took
the eclipse footage is CLOSER TO THE EARTH THAN THE MOON.
I thought this sat was way way out in space like closer
to the sun than that. My bad.

FARSIDE SOLAR ACTIVITY: The Earthside of the sun is quiet. The farside is not. Yesterday, an explosion from a hidden sunspot hurled a partial halo CME into space:

The storm cloud will not hit Earth; it is traveling almost directly away from us. The active sunspot should turn to face Earth about 10 days from now when it completes its farside transit.

The Sun’s surface churns, though it may look smooth through solar scopes. Granules, the convection cells akin to boiling water in a pot, cover the Sun like an irregular honeycomb. Occasionally, dark sunspots intrude on the surface, created as regions with intense magnetic fields trap and cool gas.

With only a few exceptions, all life and activity on Earth is powered directly or indirectly by the Sun’s energy. Solar panels are becoming ever more popular, but plants are the original and ultimate solar collectors. The leaves of trillions of trees worldwide (not to mention other plants) transform solar photons into energy every day.

Solar Activity

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was at low levels. Region 3047 (S20W29, Bxo/beta)
underwent decay. It produced the largest flare of the period, a C9.8 at
05/0407 UTC. The flare was associated with a Type II radio sweep. A CME
associated shock was observed in SOHO/LASCO imagery. The primary ejecta
appeared directed in a more narrow trajectory. CME analysis of this
event determined low possibility of any significant any geoeffective
component.

Region 3050 (N18E16) decayed to plage, however, the area was unstable
and produced some C-class flares, to include a C5.1 flare at 04/1333
UTC. This flare was associated with Type II and IV sweeps, however, no
visible CME was detected in available coronagraph imagery.

Remaining regions were inactive or in decay. No new CMEs were observed
on the Sun-Earth line in available imagery.


.Forecast...
Solar activity is likely to be low with a slight chance for M-class
flares (R1-R2, Minor-Moderate radio blackouts) 06-08 Jul.

Just finished the 7-05-2022 daily report with Ben Davidson
(Suspicious Observers) where he is reporting that there
is a 5.9 month up-tick with the solar activities.

The next estimated cycle is due to start in August
according to Davidson. You can listen to the full explanation

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: NOAA forecasters say there is a chance of minor G1-class geomagnetic storms today, July 6th, when a stream of solar wind is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. The gaseous material is flowing from a cyclops-like hole in the sun's atmosphere.

Where is the Coronal Hole Stream?

A geomagnetic storm watch was in effect for July 6th when a coronal hole stream was predicted to reach Earth, however geomagnetic activity remains quiet. The solar wind speed is low near 305 km/s and the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field is pointing slightly north. It is possible we could still see an increase during the next 12 hours. More updates will be provided whenever necessary.
