Hard to tell with latest lasco imagery, far side and near side flaring is almost simultaneous, will need more updating before anyone can give any answers.

It's a combination really, of the prominence eruption and the LDE M flare.

I agree. CACTus calls it a Type III Halo, but I would argue it's a lopsided Type IV Full Halo. However, I think the halo is going away from Earth. A very powerful CME in any event.

Check out the SoHO C3 latest image. I can't explain the brightness of the filament CME (density?), but the halo CME from 3088 is truly immense. Image only shows 'latest' so you may have to search for the timestamp near 8/30/21:30z.

A DANGEROUS SUNSPOT: Sunspot AR3089 has been quiet for days. Could it be the calm before the storm? The sunspot has developed a delta-class magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class solar flares. If there is such an eruption (NOAA estimates a 5% chance) it will be geoeffective because the sunspot is almost directly facing Earth.

Solar satellite breaks ground with new data-

China's solar observation satellite has achieved major scientific and technological feats during its in-orbit operation, according to the China National Space Administration.......

.....Also known as the Chinese H-Alpha Solar Explorer, Xihe was launched in October 2021 from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province.

Its primary task is to investigate the dynamics of solar activity in its lower atmosphere, namely the photosphere and chromosphere, and to understand the physical mechanisms of solar eruptions. The mission is very meaningful to the nation's space exploration and satellite technology, mission planners said.

Zhao Jian, head of the space administration's Key and Special Project Center, said on Tuesday that Xihe has carried out more than 300 technological tests and over 1,000 spectral imaging operations.

According to him, scientists around the world have been studying the H-Alpha spectral lines for a long time, but they had to rely on ground-based observatories that are susceptible to interference from factors such as earthly atmospheric disturbances.

So 2% of doom?

Something caught my eye today in the SDO imagery. I noticed a strong magnetic flux beyond the east limb, stretching from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere. This may be a sign that that Cycle 25 is about to climb to a new plateau in the march to Solar Max. The gradual twisting of rotating magnetic fields between the two hemispheres is at the heart of the solar 22-yr. cycle and the corresponding volatility and sunspots every 10-12 years. This cross-equatorial flux is usually best observed in the AIA171 angstrom images.

In this composite image I rotated the FOV 90 degrees to fit it in. The equator is basically straight up & down in the middle.
