Now that i DO agree on. The risk of large flares which would actually destroy equipment and so on is in my opinion large enough for the governments to make the grids more safe and to be able to withstand such an event.

As I understand it the northern US and Canada has terrible grids which would be fried in an instant if a large enough event were to occur.
