I've already commented on this in the pinned thread on page 1. I don't subscribe to the sensational label of "space hurricane" nor Dr Tony Phillips' "cracks in the magnetosphere" nomenclature. I guess these eggheads think spiral galaxies are "Universal Hurricanes", LOL.

Though the paper claims calm solar wind conditions at the time of observation (the opposite of a hurricane, jes sayin'), 2014 was near the peak of Solar Max for Cycle 24. In other words the magnetosphere was energized from 2012-2017 much more than at Solar Minimum. Aurorae always appear centralized around the polar regions (by the way, hurricanes are usually in tropical low latitudes).

This paper is more garbage science by a dozen or more CHINESE scientists looking for more grants from NSF, NASA, JPL or Harvard, etc.

I gotta go now, I just saw a hurricane in my toilet....OMG>
