I was just informed my eldest dad died a few years back and they were unable to locate me to let me know...

I understood then that husbands could "legally" rape their wives even while getting divorced...but I had my own apt-by my own work and income, and his name was not on the lease...but I guess that is how selective 'enforcement' is and how ineffective many are when dealing with abuse or those who have been abused

So I could not do anything in court about the rape, but he was fined 35 dollars to break in, breaking my front door(on the first time he raped-)ripping my clothes into shreds, breaking my eyeglasses, bruising me-etc...he paid 35 dollars and after court told me next time he would get his moneys worth...

I knew each time I dared to take him to court-he would then pursue me, stalk me, climb onto the 3-4th floor windows to access me and threaten me to drop the charges...

See this is still a problem-as the perps need to know-no matter what happens to her(or him, as some men are abused in marriages)
what happens to her will go against him-if she is dead, or threatened or injured-it is OBSTRUCTION and instead of the cops stepping up(with their guns, batons, and much more now)

He took me carrying my child to the hospital-and I called my mother-

The doctors told me the "sanitary napkin" had likely saved my life as I could of easily ruptured where the sutures were and bled to death

I did not-but I had to have icebags on my perineum off and on for three weeks

Shortly before I disappeared from his sights-I told him

"All these daughters you shall have, and have and have. And they shall grow up and because of the choices you have made with your first wife and your first daughter, you will have them come to you as well bruised and beated-you shall be angry and sadddened, as it will remind you of what you had done to us-

You would go to the men who beat them and try and threaten them-but you shall be a broken old man-from the living, all the drinking, and other women you have bedded while I sat with child.

Oddly about 2006 or 2007 he called me to tell me how straight up I was-and his last children, the mother had divorced him-
He told me how he wished he had listened and how sorry he was

He told me of all the women he had bedded he never stopped loving me-and he loved me so much anything that appeared to threaten me being with him or a perceived threat made him crazy

I never knew all this...

I was shocked, but also resentful he had worked so hard to make such nasty choices affecting my life and all his kids-

I was asked for forgiveness and I told him he had it-he wanted more assurances-I told him what he did was wrong and still was wrong, but we all make mistakes and sadly they had hurt many-especially my heart-having not had an easy time of it...not easy to do the right thing, and many will then do whatever they like regardless of how it affects others

He wanted to see if I would consider becoming his wife again or going out a bit-as he had now grown up

Sadly, I told him, I gave you many opportunities and risked my life to give that to you...we can talk about our child(an adult them) we can discuss many points over the phone...but as far as going to the movies and eating popcorn, sharing some laughs-those days were LONG GONE and would never re-appear.

I would dispute the dormant part...

I have been on this site for years even before Trinity took over and I have never noticed the relationship to the 5 Stages Of Grief be so pronounced as it is now....you can compare nearly every post within one of the 5 stages by the way the poster replies...

The five stages of grief are:

1-Denial----"this can't be happening"!!

2-Anger----"why?"!!

3-Bargaining----bargaining often takes place before a loss or problem, attempting to make deals with God to stop or change the loss or problem. Begging, wishing, praying,ect...

4-Depression----overwhelming feelings of hopelessness, frustration, bitterness, self pity, outburst of anger to other posters with different opinions. Feeling lack of control, feeling numb...

5-Acceptance----there is a difference between resignation and acceptance. You have to accept the facts openly, not just try to bear it quietly. Realization that the problem is inevitable...

and that is hard no matter when one must experience it
