If you don't, it won't. I can tell you nobody here knows, but they will damned sure flap their cake-holes as if they do. Then again, God(s) might be ignoring you on purpose too, because Atheists whine a lot, and get underfoot (slows 'em down). |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1266997Pray for the loss, pray for the ones left behind, God is all loving, compassionate, and steadfast. Jesus: "But if you don't believe in me, I will burn you in Hell for all eternity." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1269784 United States 03/16/2011 10:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | See, prayer does not work. The whole concept of praying to some omnipotent being for help is fatally flawed. Think of it this way. If you saw a three year old girl drowning in a swimming pool, what would you do? Would you wait to see if she begged you for help or would you just jump in and save her? Likewise, why would an omnipotent, benevolent being not do likewise? Why would it expect prayers/begging? So, the conclusion is #1 God does not exist #2 God is not omnipotent #3 God is not benevolent |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1269784 United States 03/16/2011 09:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP here. No help from God as of the time of this post. Praying is not working. Maybe we need to pray harder, beg louder. Come on people, we can do it. Remember “Horton Hears a Who.” Either #1 God does not exist #2 God is not omnipotent #3 God is not benevolent |

The god of the bible is a purely imaginary construct, so in an objective sense prayer has no effects in the real world. When people say they are "praying for" I think a lot of the time they are speaking metaphorically and actually saying, they are holding hope and good wishes in their "heart", which if you are powerless to do anything else, is the minimum anyone should do. |

But the God of the Bible is without doubt the Sovereign of the Universe. We had a Natural disaster which was then compounded by a Human created disaster. God and Jesus are watching So Hold on Folks I think for the first time (I'n really afraid) I have studied Prophesy for many years ..we are seeing prophesy being fulfilled and its all going according to what we have been warned about for 1000's of years |

This is something I have been wrestling with. For prophesy to work it means that the future can be seen by some. If the future can be seen, it means that it is all laid out, as if there is a plan. If this is so then everything is predestined. Do you agree? |

Focusing on happiness and love works wonders, and focusing on doom hurts. Why do you think there are so many doom doom doom people on here? Shills know this is true can you make the connection?. Thought creates. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1295170 United States 03/17/2011 03:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Prayer helps only if it focuses and strengthens us and is coupled with action. I pray but not to the god of the bible. I pray to the divine within myself and others. If it doesn't help, it sure doesn't hurt. Then I go out and do something about it. |

They actually even did a controlled study on prayer at hospitals. Large prayer groups prayed at hospitals all day. There was no measured effect WHATSOEVER. It's bunk. Stop doing nothing and DONATE money to Red Cross. Definitely do not donate to xtian organizations as Japan needs more than bibles right now. |

So, the conclusion is #1 God does not exist #2 God is not omnipotent #3 God is not benevolent Uh hi, hello, over here. It's called BALANCE. Ya know, ying and yang? All that good stuff. If only good stuff were to happen in this world, nobody would ever learn. So that's why theres always bad stuff going on. Plus if this world was all good then there would be no point of life. It'd be like we're in Heaven. You tell me the purpose of life. As for God's prayers not working. Fate comes in. If God wills one's death, then death it is. You can't question it. If we all prayed for our loved ones to be alive, this world wouldn't go on. There would still be people living right now from billions of years ago. How people die (death is a part of life) is God's will. Remember, life is only temporary. Everything that you have now WILL FADE AWAY FOREVER. |

I pray for the utmost highest to be done and thankful for what I know is being done- not all are down with the "sickness" but each make their own choice |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1303937 United States 03/19/2011 09:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Pray for Japan -- Does praying to God of the Bible help? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1136151I keep hearing people saying “Pray for Japan.” If God of the Bible exists, wouldn’t he know that Japan needs his help? So why would praying help? Does he need to hear us begging him to help Japan before he will take action? And if the omnipotent God of the Bible existed, wouldn’t it be his will that allowed the earthquake to begin with, so why would help after the fact? And before all you God of the Bible supporters start saying it wasn’t God’s will that caused or allowed the earthquake to happen, I remind you of Isaiah 45:7 (New International Version, ©2011) I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. You can start by reading the apparition of the Blessed Mother Mary that have been approved by the Church. She appeared at Fatima, Rwanda and many more. Before the slaughter of Rwanda she tried to warn the people about what was going to happen but they wouldn't listen. She said bad things happen because too many people live in sin and do NOT pray. DO not live Holy lives. She said not only to PRAY but to do penance for all the ways men OFFEND God.These offenses carry out their own consequences!!!!! PRAY PRAY PRAY is her message. The best prayer is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the next is the rosary. Fast on bread and water and beg God to forgive the fact that we no longer care about how to live a truly God fearing life. ANd then convert your life to the gospel. If you really care about humanity you will be a friend and child of God and do what He says....live how He wants you to life not how you think you should be living. |
