TOKYO — A nearly completed new power line could restore electric cooling systems in Japan’s tsunami-crippled nuclear plant, its operator said Thursday, raising hopes of easing the crisis that has threatened a meltdown.

Re: Company says new power line that could ease Japan nuclear crisis almost ready
I do not see how a new power line will help all that much in the state of the current crisis -- except for 5 and 6 where it is slightly possible they can avoid deepening the crisis if they get the power there fast enough -- and it better be pretty fast since those pools are also heating up.

In terms of 1,2,3,and 4 - especially 3&4 - the wiring and the piping in those buildings are obviously destroyed - and because of the high radiation it would be nearly impossible to do the extensive repairs necessary to restore their functionality. Reactor 2 is cracked and therefore cannot hold the water anyway --

It seems to me that this crisis has escalated to beyond the point where there is a chance of turning it around. I hate to be a pessimist -- but it seems they keep blowing smoke up our ----- and the lies, and hiding of the truth here is so obvious its silly.

Watching them dumping water from high places from helicopters was like watching someone try to put out a forest fire with a teaspoon.
