Foam is only useful in depriving conventional fire of oxygen. Foam isn't going to absorb the heat which these nuclear rods are producing.

They needed to poor in concrete like the experts did in Chernobyl, but they wanted to save there precious over due reactors/plants.

Think about it. If you heat up a frying pan without any oil in it, and then pour just a small amount of water on it. It will instantly turned into water vapor and go up to the sky.

If they only use small amount of water each time, more and more water vapor will bring the radioactive particle into the air and sky.

encasing very hot objects in concrete is a very bad idea

which is why they need to cool them down to a manageable level before they even think about encasing them in anything

and besides... concrete is placed in a wet condition and requires time to "cure" and harden in place. before it could do that (it takes 24 hours or more in the best of conditions and 30 days to reach its "ultimate strength"), the water would boil off and you wouldn't have concrete, you'd have a pile of sand, cement and aggregate (rocks).

How does concrete "cure"/"dry" the best? Yes indeed with HEAT.
So how fast do you think this concrete will "cure"/"dry" in a nuclear reactor?

The chemical curing process for portland cement concrete requires water. If there is too much heat, the process does not occur, or occurs incompletely, and you are left with a pile of sand, cement and aggregate rock, like I stated.

I bet you do not know that when the built Hoover Dam, they installed REFRIGERATION PIPING inside the concrete to circulate coolant thru it as it cured. Why did they go thru that trouble? Because the "heat of hydration" of the concrete WAS ENOUGH TO INTERRUPT THE CURING PROCESS. It was evaporating the water content too quickly.

By cooling the concrete and wicking away the heat of hydration, it was able to cure properly to its design strength.

Well I still think that water will break the surface of the reactor into small pieces and then the water vapor will bring these small particles into the air and spread it much faster.
