There are people saying Fresno, California was shut off from the EPA today because of a huge spike in radiation. Right now after the current update, Fresno is at 6uR/hr which is near below average. |

THAT'S the thing! It spikes, people breathe it into their lungs, and then the cloud continues further. Very sad, considering the illnesses this shit can cause. |

Heavy radiation would drop to the ground and it would be measurable. It would also stick to things like sides of houses that block the wind. |

I know the owner of the website and he makes geiger counters. People buy his geiger counters and upload their own personal readings. They have a bunch on the coast. You can also buy his geiger counters from that website. CPM is NOT a valid measurement of radiation, it's not Alpha+Beta+Gamma radiation combined like uR/hr is. uR/hr is what everyone SHOULD be monitoring. Everybody needs to stop going wild because CPM rises. CPM means nothing and the EPA readings are making everyone go crazy. If the blackcatsystem rad map goes up, then start shitting your pants. Typical background radiation levels for most of the USA are in the 5 to 28 uR/hr range. Thanks OP. Considering adding a new tool to my toolbox....thanks for the info on what matters. i was confused about the readings and how to tie them all into one useful reading. |

Quoting: RememberThisNumbers are way too low in more than 1 place. Nope. Look in Colorado. There's elevation and once you start getting higher, the background cosmic radiation starts getting higher. These are individuals who have bought this guys geiger counters. They're geiger counters that hook up to a computer. You can buy them on his site for $199 and monitor the situation yourself from home along with upload data to his website. You're simply looking for doom with huge radiation numbers on the west coast. It's not happening so you resort to not trusting the map. |

I guarantee they're a lot more accurate than the EPA CPM readings. This is the map everybody should be paying attention to. |

I've seen so many STUPID threads pinned lately -- the mods should be ashamed of themselves. |

Want to see how a real country monitors radiation, take a look at how we do it in Germany. Every city has measuring stations. [link to odlinfo.bfs.de] |
