Has the UN made a precedent?

So since we help are helping out the rebels in Libya along with several other countries in the UN, does that mean that we are going to be responsible for every country's uprising in the middle-east/ northern Africa? To me it seems very likely that there is surely an underlying sinister purpose for what is going on in Libya. Is this the UN setting the precedent that they will go to war to help civilians who start an uprising in every country with an unjust leader? This seems very unlikely to me. Also, the notion that oil is the reason we are doing this seems very unlikely as Libya only provides a very small portion of our oil. What is really going on..
