Quoting: ScrodiddlesAre there any ex-military or current military that can shed light on their mentality regarding this? How could you bring yourself to actually kill another person you have never met? I am not judging you, I am truly curious towards what leads up to making that kind of decision. Peace Price of a life is about $15 in Colombia. Or so I heard, a while back. Point is, like anything, death and killing is something we get used to the more exposed we are to it. The simplest explanation is more likely the correct one |

Is it something you had an aversion to before you became exposed to it (if that is what you are indicating), or have you always felt that you had the capacity to take a life? I think I could only do it if my family was directly threatened, but it would tear me up inside. That is kind of why I was hoping currently enlisted people would answer. Our grandparents had a completely different type of programming and didn't have the luxury of the internet to spell out the horrors of taking a life. Most people that enlist nowadays know exactly what war looks like and are still willing to go kill. That's why I wanted to know if they truly felt that they were doing it to protect their families from a threat or just hoping to have the experience of taking a life. I am in search of Truth, but still emptying my cup. |

If people you know have done it, you can do it. The need to belong can turn you into anything really. The simplest explanation is more likely the correct one |

Part of me thanks you immensely for your honesty and the other part of me gets chill thinking about what you might have seen. At least you are here to post today. I, unfortunately, agree that humans will do anything to fit in with others. Scary to think that the catalyst would be murder. I am in search of Truth, but still emptying my cup. |
