Methane billowing out of cracks in the earth can certainly
create large-scale sounds and vibrations, similar to the
balloon pinch/release ... depending on geology of course.

As with the seabed geophysics in the gulf, all contents under
pressure must adjust to the change ... as the inner core is
increasingly affected by extra-solar disturbances the most
prone areas TO be affected are witnessing the resulting
phenomena. I'd also be curious as to any new sinkholes
appearing, I have a funny feeling they are not all appearing
in the papers, just an opinion though.
