Massive and extremely dangerous earthquake in the border area in between Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and China

What's dangerous about it? 6.9 doesn't seem massive compared to Japan's 8.9.

Anything in the 7.0 range is "massive" Japans was just unbelieveably once in a lifetime massive... which is different because we've had about 5 "once in a lifetime" earthquakes lately.
