The EARTH in 2021 | |

If it doesn't happen, we're all royally screwed. Natural resources are running out, while the human population is exploding. Some countries will suffer the consequences before others, but then their populations will flee to the more stable ones, dragging them down too. We'll all drown in the human tsunami of starving refugees together. At some point, society as we know it will collapse everywhere, world trade will stop, and the worst famine ever seen will roam the entire planet. Pestilence and starvation will kill 90 % of all humans in very short order, and the humans themselves will take care of most of the rest. Cannibalism will run rampant, as the only readily available food source are other humans. A hundred years later, a few scattered tribes of savage survivors will start all over. Only, this time there will be no civilization building, because there is no easily mined minerals left anywhere. Earth will forever be a "paradise" where human brutes live at a stone age level, with a life expectancy of thirty years. Sorry to be such a downer, but that's the situation we're facing, unless something truly amazing happens in 2012, or at least not much later. Personally, I'm betting on the amazing! I'm betting there is a Divine Plan for humanity, I'm betting we aren't just here by dumb chance. If it doesn't happen, well, there will be plenty of time for suffering and agony later, so I'm not worrying too much about it now. There's still food in the fridge. |
