Was Jesus simply one of the first con artists? | |

A man who was an all power being, performed miracles, then died for all humanity and rose from the dead? Or a man and a rag tag bunch of clever opportunists ran some cons on stupid people until they got busted? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1111431Neither. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1324836 United States 04/02/2011 07:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yes. Jesus of Nazareth was nothing but an itinerant guru (for which we see many parallels in this modern day), and he stirred up a lot of shit, and the authorities nailed him to a cross, and then all of his friends made a hero out of him, and then 300 years latter the Emperor Constantine co-opted the "Cult of Jesus" to prop up the authority of his rule. (and since there ain't no God, he cerainly can't be the "son of God") |

Former Atheist User ID: 1324900 Canada 04/02/2011 08:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's funny -- accusing Jesus of being a con artist was exactly what most of the Jews in his day (who are likely now burning in hell) used to accuse him of being. But to answer your question -- no, Jesus is definitely no fraud. He was and is the greatest human being who ever lived. His power to perform miracles came from God, not from himself or from demons. You don't have to wait until you're dead to know the truth about Jesus -- it's in the Bible and in your heart. |

The first con artists would have definitely been seen as god like or performing miracles. One could say, he was ahead of his time. Run the con, enjoy the spoils, play the pious & holy card too. It must have been a hell of a ride while it lasted, behind closed doors with the spoils, celebrating, endless whores. His crucifixion was probably nothing more than his finally getting busted and punished for it. Likely screwed with the wrong guy or guys and got turned in. The stories that followed dissipated yet got morphed over time and word of mouth. The cons lost their origin and became 'real' due to corruption of the actual story events and passing of time. I serve God willingly, and I can at any time choose not to serve him, as I still have free will (as we all do while we're here on Earth). However, having once (unwittingly) served the forces of evil as an atheist and suffered horribly for it (including feeling it was my right to abuse people, physically, verbally, and in writing), I have no intention of ever doing that again. For me, it's God or nothing. I choose to serve God. |
