When I was very young (4th thru 8th grade), I was forced to attend Lutheran catechism class (which I hated at the time) When I graduated, I was given this as my special verse: “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32 I don’t participate in formal religion these days, but I have always found that verse to be one of the truths that I live by. Yes, it’s me in my “good mood”. I usually do a mix of half spring and half distilled... but I guess the ground water here too will soon be contaminated. So distilled water is going to be the way to go. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1328503The soil should decontaminate well and spring water pretty effectively as long as it is not contaminated by surface run off, unlike the well water in Japan, which is being directly contaminated by the reactors. “Gary Silver of Centerville, Ohio was the inventor of a now expired patent for the removal of plutonium from water. The patent utilized chitin to remove the majority of plutonium in a solution of water.” [link to contaminationinnovation.com] "The hole of the filter of the reverse osmotic membrane softeners and purifiers is about 0.0005-micron (0.5nm), and molecules of water are 0.0003 microns about (0.3nm). Therefore, all things that are larger than the molecule of water can be removed. "The grain diameter of a radioactive iodine and the cesium seeming is about 0.01-10 microns in the size. (There is information of about 0.001 microns though it is a particle of submicron of about about generally 0.1μm, too.)" "The cesium is a water solubility though the iodine doesn't melt easily to water. Therefore, it is thought that it is possible to filter and to remove the iodine of the radioactivity with the reverse osmotic membrane though the cesium might be impossible." [link to as76.net] That sucks, because cesium has a much longer half life of about 30 years, versus 8 days for I 131. I would really like to know more about this discovery: “Russian scientists in the Khibinsky Mountains in the Arctic Circle have made an important scientific discovery. They've found a new mineral which absorbs radiation. It does not yet have an official name and is known only as number 27-4. It can absorb radioactivity from liquid nuclear waste." “It can extract radioactive substances from any water-based solution and so has a very important practical significance,” said Yakov Pakhomovsky, the head of the Kolsky Research Institute." "After coming into contact with the mineral, radioactive water becomes completely safe." HAVE to capitalize your name, as you are the GREATEST provider of USEFUL information here ! The ONLY encouraging item of info I have come across to date IS ... that the 'new', unknown particles that started coming from the sun's core in October 2010, has shortened the half life of radioactive particles (and they DON'T know WHY !). Also, He said "Except that those days be foreshortened, NO flesh should remain ALIVE." This could be the way, IMHO . So IF this increases or stays the same, we may have a chance at life here on Earth, providing we DO - stay indoors most of the time; get LUCKY and don't breath in plutonium OR tellurium particles; wear a mask when we have to go outside; take a number of the foods/vitamines/minerals you recomended to rid body of nucleotides, limit uptake, interfer with absobtion; stock up on LAST years flour, canned goods, thus avoiding THIS YEARS radioactive food; DON'T get run over by a bus/truck or train, lol ! (OP) Keeping an "eye out" for the truth. User ID: 844228 United States 04/05/2011 03:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks guys and gals, I know that many here on GLP are very pessimistic about this situation, and don’t think that much can be done to prevent radiation illness in themselves and their families. While that may be correct, I actually think that the past provides us with a different conclusion. Following the nuclear bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, those fed traditional Japanese foods such has Miso soup had higher than expected survival rates. “Dr. Kazumitsu Watanabe, a professor of radiation and cancer research has investigated the radioprotective effects of the soup with the use of small intestine cells from lab mice. Small intestine cells absorb nutrients and are especially sensitive to radiation, which easily destroys these cells” [link to aclnk.com] Also, children in Poland, who had less iodine deficiency in their diets and received KI protection, had much less thyroid cancer later than children in neighboring countries who did receive iodide or lacked sufficient iodine in their diets. I really believe that the opposite of fear is hope, and from knowledge springs hope. Here is my other thread on the research about what people can do if anyone is interested to help protect their families from radiation related illness: Thread: **RADIATION PROTECTION**- non prescription list, revised and updated. (OP) Keeping an "eye out" for the truth. User ID: 1161728 United States 04/05/2011 10:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wanted to put together a handy list of internet sites which claim to be monitoring radiation levels in the US. The following is what I came up with. Please feel free to post any additions. People cannot make informed decisions without accurate information. I know that many of us do not really trust the government readings, but at least we can see some of the information to try and make our own informed choices. Also, we can monitor our own area without waiting to a news agency to pick up a high level of something. We can also specifically monitor our individual States for levels in air, precipitation, and milk. This is an interactive map from the EPA showing the beta gross count rate which measures the radiation from all radionuclides that emit beta particles: [link to www.epa.gov] So far the levels seem to be stable or dropping off a bit. but there seem to be some exceptions to that rule. For instance the beta gross count, seems to be a slight up tick in San Bernardino Cali. [link to www.epa.gov] Also Riverside Cali: [link to www.epa.gov] There are also things that I cannot explain, where things seem to be elevated BEFORE March 11, so these would not be the Japan quake. For Example: Pierre SD: [link to www.epa.gov] Rapid City SD: [link to www.epa.gov] This site also gives the EPA State by State analysis of air filters, precipitation, milk, and drinking water levels of: I 131, I 132, I 133 and Cesium 134, 136, 137, Cobalt 60 Te 129, 132 (scroll to the right) [link to www.epa.gov] Here is an interesting graph of the radioactive monitoring from the University of Washington Physics department: It shows levels of cesium as well, which has a half life of around 30 years. [link to www.npl.washington.edu] Here is from "Air Monitoring at UNLV" (University of Las Vegas) [link to www.ansatunlv.com] Here is the EPA site (FWIW anyway) [link to www.epa.gov] Last Edited by emerald eye on 04/05/2011 11:15 PM Courage forges a path through all obstacles, while fear is the obstruction of all dreams.
