If we are so socialist (or moving in that direction), why has wealth distribution taken an upward spiral while the wages of working people have been flat for the last 30 years? The 400 wealthiest individuals now own more than they ever have, and more than the bottom 50% combined. Never in the history of this country has so much belonged to so few, and it's gotten worse under Obama. Statistically, we are closer to a banana republic than a marxist society. I prefer to call is a plutarchy.

They knew he was an alcoholic psychopath. So they gave him bully pulpit with national exposure. They let him swing his ham fists around for years before the public until anti-Communism became associated with witch hunts and baseless persecution.

This is exactly right. The ruling class will say that they want to help the poor and even out the system, but those same rulers are the ones who don't pay taxes (Biden, Geithner), who makes rules for others that they don't feel a need to follow (Gore, with his private jet, etc) and who personally prosper from insider trading that the rest of us would be arrested for (Pelosi).

My parents lived part of their lives in a communist/socialist system and I've visited communist countries in the past. The common people are never happy under such a system. There is more corruption and bureacracy than under a pseudo-capitalist system. The only people who seem to think that socialist policies work are the ones who've never never had to live under one.
