Solar system enters the Orion spiral arm - ideas anyone?
Astrological Quote

"In terms of galactic geography, earth is beginning to enter the inner part of the Orion spiral arm."

From what I understand, this was very bad for dinosaurs the last time around... donīt fret though, unless you are a dinosaur of course!!!

No, seriously... does any one have any definitive ideas about what happens when we sweep through the galatic spiral arms... I know there are supposed to be 3 distinct "arms" we swing through on cyclic time spans, I know the intervals are a long period and I understand the Orion spiral arm event is the least "threat" of the 3, yet potentially... well, not promising.

Kev...

But we would be through the Orion spiral before I could read all that... I am very old and read very slowly with a huge magifying glass. Can you give a summary, like a paragraph. Thanks.

Here is my take on it. There will be an abundance of hydrogen and helium in the arm. Because the solar wind pushes out from the center, these elements will more than likely go undetected for a good while as they stream into the polar regions of the sun. As this new fuel supply builds up, there will no doubt be a lag time be fore the new material starts to ignite, thus creating a cold, dampening effect(Ice age here on earth). Then as the fuel begins to ignite, there will no doubt be a solar system wide warming effect that will gradually increase causing planetary warming through out our solar system(Global warming). Finally, there will be a point when the heating evens out and we go into a static condition(good or bad?) until the next time we pass through by which time, we may go into another cooling cycle. (good or bad?)

Thatīs as far as I needed to read. Only an inbred, crystal-sucking techno-peasant denizen of a trailer park cares about astrology.

But I donīt care about Astrology lol

I was caring about the validity of the spiral arm encounter... that is what I needed, not a disertation on the social mores and standing of those that dare to write the word "Astrological"

lol

Or perhaps that is where your expertise lies..

and you were making a graceful exit from the thread...

I donīt think we ALL will... I expect we all will eventualy...

Except the inner circle of course who have found the genome sequence for aging and will be treated for it... thus defeating death.

That is the ultimate goal... is it not.

I expect Bill Gates et al donīt need to die... if they donīt want to... everything is possible... if you have the CASH AND CONNECTIONS.

Hydrogen + Gravity/Friction=Heat

Our Helisoshpere is heating up every planet within itīs grasp.

This is why "Global Warming" is actually due to external forces.

Yes, itīs all cyclical. Itīs happened before and it will happen again.

Bundle up, since the Earthīs weather patterns are unstable (ocean currents, solar anomolies, etc..) this winter might be a bit chilly, esp. if you live north of 40 Degrees Lat.

What? Our Galaxy is entering the spiral arm of Orion? Is not the closest Galaxy to us Amdromeda? Is Orion a Galaxy? I thought it was a constellation. Does Orion HAVE a spiral arm? I think this is silliness.

Ice Ages and Spiral Arms

New research suggests that ice age epochs on the earth may result from our solar systemīs trek through the spiral arms of the Milky Way. Nir Shaviv ([email protected], +972-54-738555), of the University of Toronto and Jerusalemīs Hebrew University bases this hypothesis on correlations he has found between apparent changes in the flux of cosmic rays reaching the earth and geological evidence for major ice ages in the past billion years. Galactic spiral arms are not permanent, rigid fixtures; rather they are transient and result from density ripples traveling around the galaxy. Many massive stars form in the wake of the density waves and later explode as supernovae, which are a primary source of cosmic rays. It seems reasonable to expect our planet to receive more cosmic rays when it is near the supernovae in a major spiral arm. If there is a connection between cosmic ray flux and climate (see Update 401), past ice ages should correlate with the solar systemīs location relative to the traveling spiral arms.

One of the challenges in making the climatic connection is finding records of cosmic ray flux over past eons. Shaviv deduced the earthīs exposure to cosmic rays by considering the cosmic ray exposure of 42 iron meteorites. The meteorite record seems to indicate that the cosmic ray flux varies with a period of about 143 million years, which correlates well with both the geological records of ice age epochs and the solar systemīs location relative to the spiral arms.o Our current position in the minor Orion spiral arm should lead to cosmic ray fluxes about half of what we would receive in a major spiral arm. Shavivīs mdel places us in the wake of a major ice age epoch, and is consistent with the global temperatures that we are now experiencing. Shaviv points out that the weakest link in his proposal is uncertainties in the extent and timing of glacial periods indicative of ice age epochs, and that further geological research is necessary to confirm that galactic spiral arms affect our climate. (Nir J. Shaviv, Physical Review Letters, 29 July 2002.)

to put it simple and straight,
we have already start to swim between a lot of space material
(increasing asteroids, meteors ) and as we enter inside the spiral arm
the things will become worst.

I dont know how many, but sure some big rocks
up there have our name writen on them.

Watch the skies.

Re: Solar system enters the Orion spiral arm - ideas anyone?
And now you know why we are having these massive solar flares. We are but a small body in this universe, that revolves and evolves through the course of time. These events and circumstances have been foretold in prophecy for centuries and beyond.

Why is it so difficult to believe or perceive that the fate of this planet should coincide with this particular position we find ourselves in the universe at this point?

It has happened before and looks like it is happening again. The planet will survive, but it will change dramatically. There is not much preparation to be done, and nothing can be done to avoid it. Some will survive, most will not.

Slowly, a new age will begin on this planet, and a new way of thinking with it.

OP

The Solar System canīt "enter" the Orion Arm, as it is always *in* the Orion Arm (near the inner rim).

"Wiki" has a good overall description of the MWG at this link:

Re: Solar system enters the Orion spiral arm - ideas anyone?
We are entering a particularly dangerous period as waves of galactic material swamp the entire solar system. We are dangerously close to the upper limit of the cycle of about 39 million years when severe impacts occur. The sun is now penetrating the remains of a disintegrating giant molecular cloud that is a star-forming region of the Milky Way. Essentially we are entering or within a part of the galaxy that indicates that a bombardment episode is imminent and that the impact rate may be exceptionally high. We are presently at the inner edge of the Orion spiral arm where there are likely to be more meteoroids and comets. Astronomers claim a disintegrating comet exploded in the air above Tunguska, Russia on June 30, 1908, flattening 2,000 square miles of forest. On June 22 to 26, 1975, our Moon was splattered with a sustained barrage of ton sized boulders. The facts are there is a potential danger as we ride on spaceship Earth and many UFO reports during late June and July may turn out to be space debris. Although a major impact is very unlikely, we can count on running into the Taurid meteor stream later this month.

899, it took me a while to get that sorted out too, but I think what they mean is that one of the spiral arms of our own galaxy is called the Orion Arm because the constellation Orion happens to be in that direction. Itīs nothing to do with other galaxies, just our own.

I donīt think thereīs any danger, though. Weīre always gradually moving through the galax. I do wonder if weīll see different stars many years from now as a result of being in a different position.

Re: Solar system enters the Orion spiral arm - ideas anyone?
Hello Tape Worm
This is very interesting to me. I admit I donīt keep up on astrology or astronomy but what I can add is that in several of the Near Death Experiences and in my many readings of propecies as well as channelings, the one thing they keep stressing is Orion. Look to Orion on said if your people want to know where the new world will come from. Not that a fleet of ships is coming....no thats not it.
Neither is is a giant comet coming to destroy the earth. What is coming is super luminous high energy from the galatic central sun, and charging up our sun with in coming energy that is changing everything at the DNA base. In plain terms all these solar flares are part of it. The sun is the generator and entering Orion to me means a larger amount of this energy, which will only build and build until the alignment in 2012.
Remember that Bible verse that says "the light will grow brighter and brighter until the perfect day"? This is not just light but spiritual energy taking the form that humans can even see and feel and it will change a lot of things because its like a bright 1000 watt light bulb going on in a dark closet and so many hidden things are being seen and will be seen. In any case, Orion, according to David Wilcox published research, is the torsion generator for this energy, especially the belt and that is why Arizona....asked you about the belt......blessing of more light to you Tape

Thank you all for your wonderful perspectives. For myself, and I know this is purely self conjecture, but over the decades I have been priveledged to have here with you on earth, I have "sensed" intuitively a sort of ascention which culminated in what I can only describe as a moment of being.... enraptured... (about 1986)at which time it was as though I had "surrendered to what I think of as... Is-ness. Like a veil being lifted. Does anyone know anything about so called... star seeds? I know his os off topic a bit... but I clearly DO detect a cescendo of some sort coming up and wish to connect with likewise...
