I have a great big pot (not a canning pot) that I was planning to use. I heard I can put a towel in the bottom to keep the jars from knocking or buy a rack to put in there. Anyone on here ever do it that way before? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1283498No, but I want to learn to can also. I've wanted to for awhile, I see now it is a dire thing to learn. If anyone has some good sites or other references, let us know. IN the meantime, I am gonna go get my mason jars before they too rise in cost! |

Racks make it a helluv alot easier to get the jars out, but as long as your pot is deep enough to cover the tops of the jars thats all you need. Sealing rings are a problem. Modern ones are good for one time only. Some people used to use parrafin wax to seal jars also. |

You can get a free 9 serving sample pack and only pay shipping of about $6. They sell various size packages at wholesale which comes to less than $1.00 a serving and you can even earn more free food.
