An ACE certification should be enough for any gym to hire you. You can buy the books as a home study course, and then just take the test when you are ready.
Call some local gyms and ask what types of certifications they require. ACE is one of the main ones. There's another one, and the test is supposedly harder, but the name escapes me right now.
Quoting: Oubliettethank you Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1174904You're welcome! I used to work at a gym, and ACE was pretty much what all the trainers had. I guess I'm one of the not-fat GLPers! Lol, J/K. I need to lose 20 lbs of baby weight, but I've had two surgeries since my baby was born, and haven't gotten the OK to work out yet. :( As soon as I get cleared though, it's on! Oh, and you DON'T need to go to school to become a personal trainer. All those places are a rip off. They just prep you to take a test, like ACE, or another type of certification. If you're self-motivated, you can just buy the books and study on your own. It's a lot of anatomy and basic nutrition stuff. Quoting: Oubliettecool it shouldn't be to hard since i love training. and i looked at the study material its 300 dollars from ace website not that bad. most likely i will be ordering the material after i get the cpr certification which i plan on doing over the weekend from a website called cprtoday.com so if everything goes good and i do get the certification i will be ordering the study material after that. thank you for the suggestion and your help i really appreciate it.
