Some of you don't seem to see the real implications here.

First of all, what about culture and respecting diversity? Not every family wants their kids eating shit here, every culture in the world has their own foods and has a right to eat them.

Every parent has the right to lovingly make lunches for their kids. Barring that, at least save a few bucks by giving them leftovers. They want the kids to pay 2.25 a DAY-if you have more than one kid in school, this can be a burden on finances.

What about vegetarian kids? What about families who want to eat nothing processes or organic? And what about the RIGHTS OF US ALL???

This isn't just a war on FOOD, this is a war to make us a homoginized, sick as hell society that is vastly EASIER to control.

This, is FUCKED UP and its not just happening in Chicago. Coming to a city NEAR YOU, very soon.

WHY? WTF does it say that anyone has the right to tell you what to eat? Show me where it says that? Only parents can do that. Not the fucking STATE.

D@mn school lunches are $3.75 here. And, there is no real cafeteria. Just a concession stand type kitchen setup that is turning out concession stand quality food. The entire school smells of grease. I can smell it on my daughter's back pack and clothes when she gets home. It's horrid. She takes her lunch and will continue to do so even if they try to pass this idiotic law here. I will protest like never before. I will have a doctor write a note that she is on a specialized diet and the school system MUST provide her with that specialized diet just like they have to come up with specialized educational programs for children with learning disabilities or behavioral problems.

I make enough for dinner to have enough left over to pack her a lunch for the next day. I refuse to pay good money to poison my kid and cause her a lifetime of health issues and the expenses related to such.

Its not just about parenting. Its about the government getting involved in shit that is none of their business. The board of education needs to worry about EDUCATING our kids, not playing nanny to them.

Did you see the pic of the cafeteria lunch? Tater tots, hot dog on a white bun, canned peaches. HEALTHY? My ass. How about policing the addition of high fructose corn syrup? How about a war on Monsanto?

This is ALL about the gov't gearing up to take over our healthcare. Do you know that at hospitals now, they are giving employees incentives-200.00 off their health insurance, if they have a bmi (body mass index) within the required parameters? Sure, this is "voluntary." However, if you DONT have the required BMI-then you are essentially penalized.

How about when it hits your work place, and when you go to the vending machine, you are stripped of your choices? Or when your work decides you can't bring back a fast food lunch?

Its more subtle rights to our privacy being stripped away. Only not that subtle. And, I wonder how they enforce this ban. Confiscate "smuggled" in lunches?!
