RIP Trevor Bannister

The star, famous for his role as ladies' man Mr Lucas on the 70s sitcom, suffered a heart attack while at his allotment in Thames Ditton, Surrey yesterday.

His brother, John Bannister, explained the actor, who also enjoyed turns in The Avengers, Dixon of Dock Green and Z Cars, became ill while undertaking repair work on his shed.

Mr Bannister who paid tribute to him in a radio interview, said: "He was a good lad, we were all very fond of him."
