It is basically a firebox with a blower motor that you stick in your fireplace, and you send a 6" diameter flexibile stainless steel pipe up your chimney flue. Mine is rated to heat 3000sq FT and it sticks out 10" on the three visible sides and sits on the hearth. Wood is picked up for free, but even if you have to buy it you wont pay near what it costs to run that oil burner this winter. Look into it in the off season, because this heating season, between a weak dollar, high oil and all the other shit going down you might pay 4 to 5,000 for what cost me 2,500 this month.
