**Truckers Limited To $50 Fuel At Major Truck Stops**
Local Trucking Companies Facing Gas Shortage
Jon Hardison

Prices arenīt the only concern when it comes to gasoline, supply is quickly becoming an issue.

Sunshine Trucking Company in Bowling Green says its drivers are now limited to only $50 worth of gas at most major truck stops, which is slowing down their deliveries and costing thousands a day in lost business.

"Sometimes you might get one to get 350, but youīre talking somewhere between 300 and 350 miles. And if you go down the road and the next place is out, youīre just sitting youīre messed up for good," said David Etheridge, a dispatcher for Sunshine Trucking.

Sunshine Trucking and several other local companies have offered a truck and driver to bring relief supplies to the coast, but they say it will be at least next week before they can reach those in need.

Sounds like someone is looking to severely restrict movement. Airport closings, trucking restrictions, gas rationing and unchecked gouging and just plain old station closings.

Sigh, yes alive and well during the 70īs. I recall the alternating gas stations (red flags green flags) and odd and even lic. plates in the NE but no official rationing. Iīm sure itīs coming and to an extent here. Iīm looking for info.(pref credible) indicating it specifically.

Credible evidence would be "truckers limited to $50 fuel at major truck stops" and the fact that there are long lines at the gas stations and many gas stations have run out of gas.

I saw a gas station here in Houston at a very busy intersection about two weeks ago (before the storm) which was out of gas. It was one of those things that make you go hmmmm. I wondered whether the wholesale price on gasoline was raised to where they could not afford to buy the stuff and make a living too, or if they simply ran out. The convenience store part of the station was still open. It was just really weird to see all 16 pumps with bags on the hoses.

I know

How quickly pass the days long is the night
Lying in bed awake bathed in starlight
Better to live as king of beasts

I will deny my role as a human
Holding myself hostage with no demands
Itīs better to burn (to burn) quickly and bright
Than slowly and dull (and dull) without a fight

Colonial pipeline services the South and Southeast US...

press release
COLONIAL RESTART SUCCESSFUL, CAPACITY SCHEDULED TO INCREASE

September 1, 2005

Colonial Pipeline has successfully completed restart of Main Lines 1 and 2 and safely resumed partial service around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Original estimates of 25% to 35% of normal operational capacity for initial return to service have been exceeded, and Colonial is now operating at about 40% capacity.

With the return to service of additional electrical power in Mississippi later today, Colonial anticipates that it will be able to operate at approximately 61% of normal capacity by the end of today (Thursday, 9/1/05.) Both gasoline and distillates are currently being transported and delivered.

"As always, our first concerns are for protection of people and our environment. With this in mind, we continue to work closely with the electric utilities as they re-establish service in Mississippi," stated David Lemmon, President and CEO of Colonial. "The devastation from Hurricane Katrina is tremendous, and I commend the men and women who are working diligently to restore the energy that we need and rely on."

With additional restoration of electrical service as well as connection of distributed generation equipment currently en route to Mississippi, Colonial anticipates that it will be able to achieve approximately 74% of normal operating capacity by Sunday, and 75% to 86% by early or mid-next week.

Colonial Pipeline, headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga., delivers a daily average of 100 million gallons of gasoline, home heating oil, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products to communities and businesses throughout South and the Eastern United States. Colonial consists of more than 5,500 miles of pipeline, originating at Houston, Texas, and terminating at the New York harbor.

Just confirmed with brother, semi-truck driver, that the limits are 50 gallons, not $50, but still same problem.

Currently seems to be from Mississippi line over to east coast.
