Hey, everyone: It's National Guard/Reserves season. Once a Year they gather for two weeks and play Army. Probably a lot of cross-training with Fema these days.

Unless you see fire, smoke and bodies, (and sometimes even then) assume training and feel Wiser!

Look OP, I'm not trying to kill your thread, but the National Guard Armory behind the airport down the road as well as the FEMA personal has used this parking lot as a staging area for the last ten years.

Most people just never notice.

Not sure what's going on but here in the chicago suburbs the police and emergency crews are in high alert. Police activity is through the roof, county emergency management agency vehicles have been seen with sirens blaring, the state fire marshal was up here a few days ago too.

At least one police roadblock/checkpoint with a naked body scanner trailer was also seen.

Illinois people, stay frosty, something isn't right.


Um, I'm in the area you are talking about; work here, live here. There is NOTHING unusual going on. Same boring crap as every day. No unusual police activity at all. The only police activity I have seen was State police checking for seat belts at the toll both over the weekend.

Are you serious???? The Illinois Tollways are all over northern Illinois from the south Chicago suburbs up to Wisconsin and yes, there are toll heading through Rockford up towards Loves Park. State Police were at toll booth this weekend watching for people without seat belts. When a trooper saw someone without a seat belt, he would radio a waiting patrol car and the driver stopped and given a citation. Other than cops directing daily lunch time traffic at the entrance to Portillo's hot dogs, there has been nothing else happening in norther Illinois.
