So I finished watching the Banshee Chapter and good lord those jump scenes nearly gave me a heart attack

So some questions came to mind after watching the movie, namely who are on earth the entities were. Are they the same as the Watchers, or "those who control the lightening"? Or are they being controlled by the Watchers?

Also why they were trying to "get through", and doing it by possessing people, wasn't answered in the film. I'm wondering if you might know, though.

The possession followed by bleeding reminds me of a comment from earlier in the thread - that your third eye bleeds after a successful ritual, and that your body hosts two entities...yourself, and one that follows your bloodline/group/faction. Was the director of the film consciously or unconsciously making a dramatization of this sort of relationship between spirits and ritual work?


Even with me kind of looking at this information, it confuses me how it relates to the journey that each human must take back to God. The Hero's Journey back to the light within each of us...living lives of compassion and service to others (Cue Joseph Campbell, Buddha, and Manly P. Hall). This idea defines my current spirituality, and it doesn't seem to be able to exist alongside knowledge of ritual, possession, control and the like that I see in these films. At least not on the surface at the moment.
