To capture billions of stars, it takes some pretty impressive numbers. The photo isn't just one click -- it's made up of 37 ,000 photos and has a resolution of 5000 megapixels.

To get the rich colors, his shutters had to stay open for seven minutes.

"As anybody has shot with their point-and-shoot would know, stars are almost impossible to capture," he said. "It was a lot of, you know, sitting out in the cold out under the stars waiting."

After that, it took months to piece together the thousands of pictures into the largest true-color sky survey. You can see the photo and even interact and zoom in on particular stars at his website, skysurvey.org

A mob attacks homes and places of worship. The Christian minority is forced to flee fearful of more violence. The discovery of a burnt copy of the Qur‘an in a Christian cemetery sparks a reaction among Muslims. Restrictions are imposed on the right to assembly. Paul Bhatti meets victims, urging everyone to remain calm.

Repeated attacks by Muslim extremists against the Christian minority.

Yesterday, a mob attacked Christian homes and places of worship, setting fire to a number of churches. Only the action of police prevented any loss of life and injuries.

The attacks were sparked by reports that a burnt copy of the Qur‘an had been found on Saturday. Muslim religious leaders responded by urging people to attack Christians. Scared for their lives, many families fled the area. Meanwhile, the authorities have begun enforcing Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code to limit public assemblies to a maximum of four people.

I've been on the thread of the Pakistan church burning, and now I hear this crap in Egypt.


Islamists burned down two churches in a Cairo suburb overnight in a bloody rampage against Coptic Christians. It was the second assault on Egyptian Christians in less than a month.

Hundreds of Salafist radicals massed outside the Saint Mina Church on Saturday night firing guns, and throwing Molotov cocktails, bottles and rocks amid rumours swirling through the country’s Muslim community that a Coptic Christian’s wife had converted secretly to Islam and was being held in the church against her will. The woman in question has appeared on television to deny the rumours but Salafists and their supporters refuse to believe her.

Police and soldiers intervened at the scene but the mob then moved on to another church, Saint Mary’s, and torched it too. The Egyptian cabinet met in emergency session on Sunday to address the matter. On March 9, another church was burned down on the same pretext, leaving 13 dead.

Christians represent around 10 percent of Egypt’s population and complain of systematic discrimination by the Muslim majority.

An event worse than a meltdown is taking place right now at Fukushima!

This morning many of us awoke to find a thread pinned about a fire at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

But do we really understand what the implication of this fire were.

You can see in this picture take last night,

That there was a large column of black smoke seen billowing from Reactor 4(images 1 and 2 on the right). The smoke blanketed the plant and was the most significant release since the "hydrogen explosions", but what did we witness.

We witnessed a Spent Nuclear Fuel Fire last night. This was a worst case scenario for TEPCO and the Japanese Government.

"If the water evaporates and the rods run dry, they could overheat and catch fire, potentially spreading radioactive materials in dangerous clouds."

If any of the spent fuel rods in the pools do indeed catch fire, nuclear experts say, the high heat would loft the radiation in clouds that would spread the radioactivity.

“It’s worse than a meltdown,” said David A. Lochbaum, a nuclear engineer at the Union of Concerned Scientists who worked as an instructor on the kinds of General Electric reactors used in Japan.

Obviously May 8th came and went and the situation was not under control so we can only assume the worst has happened.

Live feed went down last night and then came back up. Would the Japanese Government and TEPCO have the ability to cut and loop a feed??

Remember last week when a high ranking Japanese official resigned from office because he knew he was lying to the public and could not take anymore???

Or remember how TEPCO and the Japanese government with held information from the public because "they felt if would cause panic"

Why would they begin to tell us the truth now?

I am under the assumption that the Japanese Government and TEPCO lost control of the situation a long time ago, the only question is how much longer is the public's health going to suffer.
