Why? Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I that live, but Christ now lives in me and the life I live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1389463just using my logic here, but i think it would mean that like a super jolt of energy would be coming through, and if your power is on, then the massive power surge could cause anything electrical problems, and maybe make the wiring in your house catch on fire? |

You would be vaporized before the light bulb illuminated. Bro, have you ever watched the auroras in the north or south pole holding a light bulb, kinda fun man jph |

You understand that the bulb isn't connected to anything? If it's glowing, the energy is getting to it not through the power cables, because it is not connected. So if there was going to be a power surge, it would make no difference if you turn off your main power switch. There would already be enough energy in your house to make a non-connected lightbulb glow, so that would mean all of your wiring and equipment is already being seriously radiated somehow. Turning off the switch would do NOTHING to help. |

If there is 35 Watts of "free energy" in the air around the light bulb then you would be dead. |

If I take a fluorescent tube bulb under a high voltage power line, it will glow. Actually it looks like a star wars light saber. Are you sure you are not confusing a tungsten light bulb with a fluorescent? Also a EMP event happens in microseconds to fuse silicon / oxide semiconductor technology. |

By the way you can have tens of thousands of volts with out doing any damage... every got a static shock ? |

Out in their backyards with fluorescent tube bulbs waving them around for the tv stations to film. They all lived under the high voltage wires. |

Quoting: . 1392771jph Dude, Isn't there an easier more informative way than keeping a glass bulb around? How about just create a large coil of enough 14 Gauge wire then run the two end points into a piezo-electric buzzer. At least you would hear it in another room. |
