*** Evacuees: not allowed in residential homes? ***
I am reading that in a forum that evacuees are not being allowed to go to residential homes. Of course, we are probably speaking only of evacuees that did not leave prior to the hurricane katrina.

Over at the nest, some posters stated:

1. a group of people are being bused to Portland, Oregon even though they have family that will take them in.

2. I believe the poster believes in the truthfulness of what was reported to them but there is no link or news story.

3. HOWEVER, lightstream posted that he offered a room in his home and was told that no evacuees are being allowed in residential homes.

I do not know who told him but he is a regular poster there. He would not stir shit about this. I believe he is accurately reporting what he was told. I hope he posts more about this.

This is serious if true. Anyone else have links to similar stories?

I know there is a network of sites offering opening up their homes but wonder if any post-hurricane New Orleans people are being placed. In fact, does anyone know of anyone placed in a residential home?

What is "the nest?" Is it another board? Could you give a link?

I have heard from this board and the news the stories about those who are being hauled off and not allowed to go to private homes.

This is scary.

If this is true, that means that martial law is in effect for the entire country, not just New Orleans.

It just means that Haliburton will only get paid for the number of beds they fill with refugees so they don’t want any disappearing into the private sector.

Probably not true. I heard some people who finally got to Texas were able to contact family members and are in their homes now.
One of the cable news channels( I forget which one) had a woman on the phone last night who told how she was plucked off her roof by a helicopter, dropped on a dry area, picked up by boat brought to another spot, picked up by another helicopter droped off again. Walked the rest of the way to the superdome, was put on a bus to Houston and got in touch with some family. She then got on a plane and flew to Florida to her relatives home.
Iīm not joking...that ladyīs story really stuck in my mind.

Donīt take NO for an answer....

keep asking

Question:

How many government, state and local houses are empty of tenants?

Taxpayers property laying idle.

How many folks have two or more houses?
Any willing to offer accommodation here?

From another forum.

We finally got our first plane load of refugees in about 2:00 this afternoon. The procedure for processing is as follows: Persons and baggage are searched, background checks are performed, medical care then shelter.

background checks are performed, >>>>>>

What are they doing with the people who
donīt have pristine backgrounds?

Is this for the people that are being considered
to be taken into peoples homes?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I live near a decommissioned military base that they are taking some refugees to. I heard today that when they arrive they are given "hurricane ID numbers" for tracking.

They arenīt being allowed into residential homes here either. The background check is to get into the shelters. One of which is an old Air Force base thatīs been converted to an industrial park and has a level 3 biolab. So yeah I feel a little better knowing that they know whoīs out there.

Background checks! See how this is playing into the controllersī hands.

How come they have the time and resources to run background checks but they cannot fucking put up a centralized website for people to reunite?!!

Sorry, but it is utter bullshit. They committed no crime. And as for FEMA benefits, a background check is not necessary either!
