Insulin
I have finally started on insulin. My blood sugar has been high for several months now. Sooooooo I gave in to my doctor's advice. Does anyone have any thing positive to tell me? I'm hoping it makes me feel better as I have been feeling really tired for quite awhile now.

Re: Insulin
All mainstream dietary information is horribly wrong. They encourage diabetic people to eat high carb, low fat but it only makes them more sick and fat. In fact YOU CAN CURE DIABETES BY DRASTICALLY REDUCING CARBOHYDRATE INTAKE.

Thread: If you want to be thin and stay thin (and avoid Metabolic Syndrome), then you have to eat high fat

check this thread and google ketogenic diet and Bernstein diabetes solution

Yep. I once cured my cat from diabetes by switching it to meat only food. For a human, the Atkins diet my do the trick.

The less known fact is that you can only eat meat and stay healthy without defiences as long as it is not overcooked, because overcooked meat doesnt prevent scurvy. Inuit people used to be totally carnivorious and they were healthy, without cardiovascular diseases and obesity.

Type 2. I've been diabetic for about 5 years now. I weigh 185 give or take a few pounds in either direction. I'm 56. My Dad was a brittle diabetic. His Mom had major problems with her diabetes. The bad thing is I'm an emotional eater, stressed out big time taking care of my Mom. I noticed when we found ot about her lung cancer and other health issues is when my A1C jumped up from 7.5 up to 10.2. Stress I think is what caused it. Bah I'm feeling disgusted I guess.

Re: Insulin
Trans fat and sugar cause diabetes type 2. Don't eat them.

Take evening primrose oil and use honey for a year while trans fat leaves body. You will be cured in a year.

Take vitamin B complex and multivitamin to speed recovery.

Do not resume eating trans fat and sugar you will get diabetes again.

By the way, the diabetes drugs deplete you of B12. Without B12 you may need to have your feet removed in a few years.

Hey Type II diabetic here...It's pretty simple actually.

Lots of fresh salad and fresh veggies
little bit of protein at each meal
eat whole grains
little bit of dairy

If you want to ask questions and learn
www.diabeticconnect.com

it was a real lifesaver for me to learn from the experiences of other Type II diabetics

brought my A1C from 10.5 down to 5.5
daily fasting blood glucose is always around 100-105 now.

Exercise makes a HUGE difference in your Blood Glucose, it's beyond belief what a little exercise can do for diabetics and humans in general.

Check out that site it will help solve the "what can I eat dilemma"

Re: Insulin
The reason you are so hungry is the trans fat makes up your cell walls and does not let nutrients into the cell.

Evening primrose will replace the trans fat in your cell walls and let the nutrients in. Takes about 3 months to stop the hungry all the time feeling.

Tryptophan and melatonin at bedtime with milk and crackers will stop the cravings and make you sleep well.

Re: Insulin
Trans fat turns off your D6D enzyme which turns off your endocrine system. No hormones. Insulin is a hormone.

Evening Primrose circumvents the D6D enzyme until the trans fat leaves your body and the D6D enzyme starts working again.

Re: Insulin
google:
duodenal switch, diabetes

I know others with diabetes who have successfully eliminated the disease due to the duodenal switch.

Because of the adjustment of the anatomy, it stops the insulin issue. It isn't even about the "new eating"...it changes the way body to stop the insulin response that is screwed up...

I am not a diabetic nor expert, but you should find plenty of reading to give you hope.

Re: Insulin
Don't be hard on yourself... it's not a death sentence. it just means you need to manage your intake. Just eat right drink plenty of water and go for a walk every day.

You'll be fine... you know what the greatest lesson I've learned so far is?

Buy the biggest tupperware tub that will fit in your fridge easily, and always keep a lots of salad in there. don't buy the packaged stuff... chop up your own and make it fresh all i one big batch.

Carrots, cucumbers, green peppers, red cabbage, spinach, etc. Avoid iceberg lettuce because it turns brown quickly, use romaine instead... FYI the red cabbage acts like a magnet and keeps the lettuce from oxidizing too quickly. adding a good amount of sliced red cabbage will make a bunch of salad last 2-3 longer.

When you're hungry and going to reach for something... reach for a salad ... if it's already prepared sitting there you'll be more willing to choose the salad. If you must dress it use a vinaigrette thats mostly vinegar.

Carrots are my go-to snack. I go through 4-5 bags of carrots a month.

I really like carrots, and they are satisfying and crunchy.

Re: Insulin
Hi OP, Im Type 1 Diabetic and you will feel SO much better when you start having your Insulin. I totally understand how you feel right now, it's scary injecting something into you every single day, in my case 4 times a day. The tiredness, sickness, depression and everything else that comes with being Diabetic is hard. Don't be too hard on yourself if you give in and eat something that you probably shouldn't, we are only human, Things would be different if we'd have been born Diabetic as we wouldn't know any different, It's harder to be diagnosed later in life. I really, really struggle with it, I'll be honest, Not 1 day goes by when i don't find it hard. I feel that when i was diagnosed i lost a big part of me. I've had it for over 10 years now and I've made HUGE fuck ups with my Diabetes and I've probably significantly reduced my life span because of it.
The best advice I can give is to take each day at a time and don't be too hard on yourself. You'll get there and you'll feel lots better soon enough. Although there are side effects with Insulin and each person reacts differently to them, you should start feeling better. Take Care OP. hf
