User ID: 2969 United States 09/08/2005 04:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember around Christmas, 79, (Octo still had single digit birthdays), when the Soviets invaded Afganistan. I thought the end of the world was near, ( I was then in the weapons Dept of a US aircraft carrier), and the scene was scary. As the war dragged on with more and more Soviet losses, I realized that they , nor anyone else, would never beat these "primitave" people. I distinctly remember thinking that if the Afgans got the Islamic version of Last Rights before going into battle, no occupier has a chance in the long run against them. (How do you fight an enemy who has no intention of surviving the fight?). We have sown the wind, and we shall reap the whirlwind, or something like that. Leave me alone and I'll return the favor. OK, Octo, I´ll concede that you had two digits, but maybe not a ´teen yet. Leave me alone and I'll return the favor. Guns and gardening, peaceful prosperity |
