They've gained YouTube subscribers because they've been on top of the disaster story videos better than any other news outlet. If there's a tsunami, tornado, hurricane, volcano, earthquake, etc with a few dozen 'on the spot' vids floating about, they will compile them and have them online with commentary within minutes of the damn thing. They're smart. They know it's what people want to see.
