When Localization came to linux, I had to pick a timezone to install my distro. I started with SUSE around 2003.

I was curios what that meant(I knew it wasn't just for daylight savings time)

So I looked around the web. There was a company that specialized on "localization, pinpointing the location of a web site visitor by IP address within a few city blocks of their actual geolocation. Their website was racist. All southern hemisphere countries had black flags except Australia and South Africa.

So I went to the W3C, and looked at their requests for comments, and they had concluded the session, but the papers were still there.

Discrimination.

I wonder if anyone has a mirror of those old comments. I ask because I've been on this site for many months, and haven't seen many people from the "non-favored nations" on here.

I've seen a lot of Northern Hemisphere posters, and that probably correlates with development, so I'm not trying to be a wingnut here.

But that's kind of my point. How many African countries have posted here?

Are all South American ones accounted for?

My ISP, Optus has apparently been banned since Sunday, so maybe it's cause of the "Large range ISP ban" they have going on, im still pretty certain the ban was aimed at me though. After atleast 70 aussie users were on at one point, and that is in the high range of average Australian users on GLP at one time. So i concluded that at least 20 to 30 percent of these users were using the Optus network, the same ISP as mine.

GLP is randomly showing national flags linked to posters. I live in Taiwan, last time I got United States so we'll see what flag I get today.
