The Searchengineland blog, which first noticed that Realtime Search was disabled, noted that a small search engine called Topsy may be the only remaining site with access to historical Twitter messages. I use google and gmail all the time but never ever heard of or cared to use this realtime twitter feed you are freaking out about. I really dont see how this hurts anyone or is news. Quoting: j1m1hendrixthink of it this way..no twitter feeds on Google.. there are still twitter feeds on Bing but not on Google.. those who support Internet censorship of course would have no problem with that..after all it shows tangible progress in the Government/DHS TAKEOVER of the Internet.. |

New legislation expected to be introduced today would give the Homeland Security Department broad new authorities and powers over federal civilian networks. The bill, however, does not include a "kill switch" for private sector networks, as widely reported previously. [link to www.federalnewsradio.com] The latest and most comprehensive bill to change how agencies secure their computer networks is on the fast track. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), one of the principle sponsors of the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010, says the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which he is the chairman of, will hold a hearing June 15 and mark the bill up about a week later, June 23. He wants to report the bill out of committee before the July 4 recess. The bill now becomes one of more than 40 introduced during the 111th Congress. Some of the more prominent bills include the Cybersecurity Act of 2010 from Sens. John Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), the International Cyberspace and Cybersecurity Coordination Act of 2010 from Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2010 from Rep. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) and several amendments to the House version of the Defense Authorization bill from Reps. Jim Langevin (D-R.I.), Diane Watson (D-Calif.) and Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.). |

I think it is an utter waste of time. Google realtime search has no impact on me whatsoever, and I think a lot of people feel the same way. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1449653twitter is DANGEROUS it can be used to form flashmobs! Thread: THE US CYBER COMMAND AND THE PERFECT CITIZEN PROJECT (Page 6) Quoting: RTSThe Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is poised to add the Internet to its portfolio of regulated industries. The agency's chairman, Julius Genachowski, announced Wednesday that he circulated draft rules he says will "preserve the freedom and openness of the Internet." No statement could better reflect the gulf between the rhetoric and the reality of Obama administration policies. With a straight face, Mr. Genachowski suggested that government red tape will increase the "freedom" of online services that have flourished because bureaucratic busybodies have been blocked from tinkering with the Web. Ordinarily, it would be appropriate at this point to supply an example from the proposed regulations illustrating the problem. Mr. Genachowski's draft document has over 550 footnotes and is stamped "non-public, for internal use only" to ensure nobody outside the agency sees it until the rules are approved in a scheduled Dec. 21 vote. So much for "openness." [link to www.washingtontimes.com] Re: Paper: Wave Goodbye to Internet Freedom Thread: Paper: Wave Goodbye to Internet Freedom WWW to be replaced by IGC/APC? [link to canadafreepress.com] Former CIA Chief: A Separate Internet Could Curb Cyber Threats To combat cyber attacks, the U.S. may need more than new cyber defenses. It might need a whole new piece of Internet infrastructure. So says former CIA director Michael Hayden, who served under President G.W. Bush, and he’s not the only one. Several lawmakers and the current Cyber Command chief Gen. Keith Alexander are toying with the notion of creating a “.secure” domain where Fourth Amendment rights to privacy are voluntarily foregone in order to keep that corner of the Internet free of cyber criminals. Slow suffocation as the news black-out continues... I'm feeling mighty small at the moment... yea I know how you feel..there is no logical reason why twitter would stop providing realtime info to Google the timing of it just happens to have coincided with events in New Mexico and Nebraska it gives them even more control over the flow of information..and less to the average moran Last Edited by RTS on 07/10/2011 02:18 AM |

I have a big problem with censordhip, but the fact is Google has become one of the worst search engines out there. It is highly censored and getting worse. I can't imagine that, if you did a twitter search, real-time or not, You wouldn't find half of them on Google because Google is sleeping with the feds. |
