Living in Houston I have first hand experience with the following items regarding the Katrina victims. 1. Chic-fil-a delivered 2000 hot chicken sandwiches to the astrodome crowd a couple days ago. A vast majority of them went to waste because no volunteers were around to hand them out. The people just stayed on their cots waiting to be served while the sandwiches went to waste on a serving table open to anyone. 2. A friend of my sons, who happens to be African American as well, helped out at the Astrodome an entire weekend handing out food, clothes and cleaning up. Not ONCE was she thanked by anybody except other volunteers. Volunteers are having to go around cleaning up the litter and filth. She really came away disillusioned and slightly pissed off. 3. A few churches by me are helping non-superdome evacuated people is full of families and individuals who really appreciate the help they are receiving. Our street collected clothes and food and delivered them to 2 of the local shelters housing around 150 families each. They were very appreciative and at the same time showing a strong will to get past this tragedy. Most of them already have their kids enrolled in local schools and are seeking employment. So you actually do have 2 types of evacuees. The first is waiting for everyone to bend over backwards to serve them, because after all they deserve it. The second is working through this tragedy the best they can as hard as they can and truely deserve all the help we can give them. |

User ID: 3619 United States 09/13/2005 08:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is nothing new...every time there is a national/widely known disaster these pathetic radio hosts attempt to gain publicity by saying the most off color unappropriate thing their tiny minds can create. Howard Stern, The Greaseman, etc, etc...they called the airport (on air) to see how much an airline ticket from Washington National Airport to the 14th Street bridge would cost (after the Air Florida plane crashed into the bridge/the river). One of these losers said (on air) something about; if Martin Luther King was shot/murdered and that gave everyone one day off from work, why canīt they shoot 4 more (black people) and take off the entire week. The lack of class/intelligence/morality of these radio folks continues to (unfortunately) not surprise me in the least. Maybe they should take a lesson from Alan Berg. |

A few days ago I posted an account from a volunteer in Texas who was disgusted by all the "evacuees" who didnīt say thank you for anything and verbally abused her. A lot of posters believed it but there were still a lot of flame posts. |
