Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1417231you are wrong,,, they are taxing me to pay for it,,, unlike you, who earns nothing and pays nothing... So if there is no war on drugs then you shouldn't have to pay as much taxes. Sounds like you advocate legalization. Nope,, if they are gong to take my money it should be for some form of war. I am not real picky which war it is. War on terror, fine..... War on drugs even better..... War on illegal immigrants lets hope that happens. Ah so you like paying more taxes. My you are a rare breed, a true patriot in fact! Though I am sure there are several that would disagree with your logic... |

They are defending drugs and the usage there of. give it 10 or 15 years and you will either think differenetly and have a life or you will think the same and still be a looser.... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1409383I used to binge drink, so I'm very familiar with the problems drugs can exacerbate. But in our culture, today, our policy regarding alcohol is to let adults be adults. If they commit crimes while abusing alcohol, they do the time for those crimes. Repealing prohibition of alcohol drastically reduced crime. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1409383I imagine that's the same line of reasoning used by older folks when they realize that a lifetime of poor diet has left their body in total disarray. Of course by then the effects of a poor diet are irreversible. Leading to early death. It's a good thing they stopped doing drugs though. So they could lead a long life. Oh wait.... |

This isn't exactly the SCOOP of the century, but the last video that was posted was really good. As the Global Commission on Drug Policy recently reported: “The global war on drugs has failed, with devastating consequences for individuals and societies around the world…. Vast expenditures on criminalization and repressive measures directed at producers, traffickers and consumers of illegal drugs have clearly failed to effectively curtail supply or consumption…. Government expenditures on futile supply reduction strategies and incarceration displace more cost-effective and evidence-based investments in demand and harm reduction.” The War on Drugs has cost US taxpayers over $2.5 trillion dollars. From 1998 – 2008, a UN study estimates that the use of opiates has increased 35 percent and cocaine use has increased 27 percent. Due to nonviolent drug offenses, the US prison population has increased “more than twelvefold since 1980...” The war on drugs is another joke just like NASA. The DEA is probably more crooked than most politicians. You NEVER, I mean NEVER, hear about them anymore. Does the DEA even exist anymore? Apparently they do behind closed doors now, though. They were out in full force during the early 90s with Say No to Drugs and busting some big time dealers in the 80s and 90s. Then we went and spent this $2.5 trillion on something that did not work. BTW, this number does not surprise me. It seems as though America has and still has some useless programs that they are finally deciding to dump. FINALLY?!?! What the hell were THEY waiting for. They better dump the DEA, too. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1426995 United States 07/17/2011 02:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Honestly, the main reason the war on drugs was put into place is mostly due to societies denial of recreational drugs. Most of the people against drugs where republicans (control reasons) and rightful-minded individuals (ethical reason). But who are they to deny people something that they want to do as long as they are not directly hurting someone else? I believe that many hurtful acts against another individual should be deemed unlawful. If you are not hurting anyone in the process then you should not be held accountable for your actions. Take for instance a death defying rock climber that takes huge risks every time they climb a rock. They are put on the edge constantly but by their own choosing. Rock climbing is not illegal and you don't usually hurt someone in the process. Not THEIR drug usage on the other hand is deemed completely illegal although it follows the similar patterns to this rock climbing example. |

I know a lot of people who were put on this program. It's like a 3 year fuse. Stab the neighbor. Drown your kids. And meanwhile, these prescription zombies blow off paying the mortgage, and lock their minds into Casinos and Farmville. That's not a pro-drug argument. Depression is usually situational. Your situation sucks, change it. These LEGAL drugs prevent people from doing that. I add it as another hypocracy example. The legal drugs are easily as destructive or more destructive as the "evil" ones. Plus Wall Street is dependent on $800billion a year in laundered drug money. This has been going on since before the British hooked the Chinese on Opiates. Legalize everything. Take the profits away from Banksters.
