Plate recognition system in police cruisers! Talk about big brother

Basically assume any Dodge Charger you see is a potential police car. That's what I've accustomed myself to doing these days.

HUmmm, I don't see any more big brother than already exsists. The plate on your car or truck tells every cop information about the owner...this just does it faster.

No this does it automatically.
For instance If they wanted to know where you were and you passed this cruiser ding ding ding the damn car tells them. Saved in a nice little file for them!

Not many cops can see the plates of the cars that pass in the other direction and record the info in an instant.

OP you're 100% right, but I'm a little surprised this got a pin, I mean these systems have been deployed and in use in the field for many years in many areas.

Well if you were a criminal and there was an APB out on you then yes you are fucked.

It automatically scans 100s of plates everyday.

And if your not why would they need to record your activity?
If something like this doesn't concern you your still blind!

Is there a civilian version which gives me the officers names in the squad cars that I pass? And their addresses? And their histories?

we've had this in UK for a few years now
'robots; sends out speeding tickets for your speedy motorway sprint while the cops were asleep lol
police cars scan all reg plates and everything is on comp - you licencse insurance M.O.T certificate and all your info if its registered to you if not they just pnc you anyway

Actually this system has been in use in the US for a number of years..... in the end it's about those that have the controll of these systems and how they choose to use them.

I have a "grille" that covers my plates that I designed and built for this purpose. It's 1" grid squares at a 1" depth.
Standing behind my vehicle the plate is fully readable but move more than 20 degrees left or right and it's unreadable.

I have been pulled over twice and the cops commented on it -I told them it was so I didn't loose my plates from kicked up rocks - they scratched their head and said OK and let me go.

It's stuff like this, that makes one have to ask...

Is there a limit?? Is there a limit on just how big and powerful, and all knowing, that Big Brother will become?

The next question that comes to mind, is...

Did the Founding Fathers of this nation intend for things to evolve into this???


The answer to both questions is an obvious NO.

they can read registration on plates, inspection sticker. can read 100 feet to either side running down the road at 60+ auto alerts.
Systems are like this but just getting started for ropo men.
then all tow trucks using this system can call in to the banks and make offer if the get an alert.

They are ALREADY using ones over here that can scan 6 lanes simultaneously and instantly run all the vehicle plates against central names index/R.T.A. database to see if the vehicle is unregistered or has been reported stolen.
Big brother is WELL AND TRULY watching you..

here is Australia, these systems are already in use and the only "criminals" they catch are unlicensed or unregistered people.

surely there is far worse crimes to attend too rather than people just trying to get from a to b

my husbnad stepped on a nail two days ago.
its infected now.
our registration hasnt been renewed since his birthday 3 days ago.
just havent made enough money to cover that AND the bills yet.

so i have to run him to the ER today.
should i be worried?
