i'm near alma. yes, there are 4 pics from yesterday. only two show how persistant they were. i did not see or hear an aircraft.

i shot a few from today. i'll get them emailed and post them.

I was on my way in to Claddagh for some Fish and Chips, and my cell phone is shitty for a few more days. That, and, as I said, I'm not a big Chemtrailtard. If I see them, I kind of go "Hmmmmmm...." and leave it at that.

I accept the possibility that under the right conditions, jet engines can leave visible vapor trails that fan out over time.

Busy skylines might criss-cross.

When you saw them on the 4th. . . Were you in or near Detroit? If you were do you remember the time you first noticed them? The atmospheric sounding location is about half way to Flint, Mi from Detroit. . . .were you on that side of Detroit? Were the Trails large and persistent? Did they form cloud banks or a haze? THANKs!!!! . . .

It was between 8 and 9 pm, leaning closer to right down the middle. I was in Livonia which is West Detroit Suburb. I was either thinking about having Fish and Chips, or basking in the warm glow of just had having said Fish and Chips.

The sky was a spider's web of trails and clouds. Some trails were flattened out.

That's really all I got. Refer to the pics posted by others in the area.

i'm 50 miles north of lansing. 2 1/2 hours from detroit. i'm far north of flint.

yesterday was partly cloudy. when i saw the trails they were large and persistant. the thick one eventually became a cloud surrounded by haze.

Thanks. . . .then what I said earlier stands . . . the conditions were too warm for the trails to be persistent unless they were laid down well above 34,000 . . . The conditions on the 5th were even warmer. . . .so these trails are suspect . . .

Update . . . I have found conflicting information. . . On cruising altitudes . . . .the latest data indicates an original statement by NASA was incorrect.

BECAUSE of the new info on cruising altitudes . . . The conditions to form persistent contrails is possible over Detroit on the 4th of August 2011. . . .

The majority of passenger jets cruise at flightlevels between FL320 and FL420 (roughly 32.000 and 42.000 feet, the latter is the maximum allowed altitude before one of the pilots must permanently wear an oxygen mask). The decision for a certain altitude is made with the performance, traffic
and weather in mind. Some heavy aircraft like the Boeing 747 use a step climb. This is necessary because they are initially too heavy to directly climb to their target cruise altitude so they fly for short times at intermediate levels. Some light aircraft like the Fokker 100 have a performance or cabin limited ceiling, in this case cabin limited at FL350.

There are a number of reasons for this. First off, it's typically commercial airliners flying at or near this alititude. One reason is because the air is thinner, less fuel would be consumed, less air traffic (no smaller aircraft), and often times the ride is more smooth! The altitude an airliner flies at often times decided by the air traffic controllers, though the pilots do report on the turbulence. If the air traffic controller specifies 32000 feet, and the pilot reports turbulence, the pilot can request for a higher altitude, but ultimately, the air traffic controller decides whether or not to approve that request, and takes into account other reports of turbulence at that same altitude, and uses this when considering wheat altitude to request other pilots to fly at as well.

One more thing to note - When traveling east, the altitude will be an odd numbered thousand (33,000 feet, 35,000 feet, 37,000 feet) When traveling west, the altitude will be an even numbered thousand (32,000 feet, 34,000 feet, 36,000 feet) this is to maintain vertical separation.

I love how you keep flip-flopping....yet every statement is a statement of fact. Stop pretending that you know what you're doing...it's obvious that you don't.

As I've said before...every time a chemmie provides "evidence" of "chemtrails"...it turns out to be evidence of their ignorance about aviation and atmospheric science. Come on George, be the first to break the mold!

As long as airplanes continue to fly, the trails will continue to appear. No one is spraying anything. The trails are contrails in varied atmospheric conditions.

If you have evidence to the contrary, please provide it! I keep seeing claims about "chemtrails" and the only "evidence" provided so far is evidence that those who believe in "chemtrails" don't know much about aviation and/or science.

It has nothing to do with "flip-flopping" it has to do with an honest and thorough examination of a first run through On my part of a procedure. . . the sounding data was correct, the times were correct, the altitude at which the trails should not have formed was correct as far as I am able to tell. . . The only issue was which range of altitudes should be used for normal cruising altitudes . . .

So, you feel that using sounding data from other times is "correct"?!
