Best way to plan? There are many potential doom scenerios out there. Quoting: IndianSpiritWe have been trying to prepare for most emergencies, however it's tougher than we expected. Costly, time consuming, and sometimes we just can't afford the things we want or think we need. As well, we get distracted easy with work and other shit... And sometimes, we just don't even know what the best preperation may be. All this talk about wars, comets, economic collapse, earthquakes, solar flares, radiation, etc... Ugh! too many scenerios!!! Sometimes we think hell with it, lets just party it up until the doom gets here. I say prepare as much mentally, physically and emotionally as you can. The less you are attached to things the better, IMHO. Since all the doom gloom started in March my family has felt the need to deep clean, to remove clutter and live simplistically. It's actually been such a great relief to do so! If you can afford to do so, stock up on staple items. Ensure you have plenty of bottled water, rice, beans, canned goods, candles and matches. I've found following the KISS method works the best....keep it simple stupid, LOL. If you are religious pray for guidance and you will know what is right for you and your family. Live in the moment and don't let the negativity consume you. Stay strong my friend "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me" Phillipians 4:13 "I shall call upon the name of the Lord who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from mine enemies" Psalm 18:2-4 "In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." Psalm 62:6-8 "He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:30 |

My husband doesnt quite think things will get that bad, but he will appease me and buy some things. If I say its for camping,( which he loves) he will get it if affordable. |

What doom are you preparing for? Best way to plan? We can't afford a bunker, what is the next best thing? Quoting: IndianSpiritI built mine over the years, its not much, better than nothing. Your question depends on the doom. #1 I watch GLP to see what is coming my way, I have mapped out wooded, areas, steams and all back roads. I also made a note on small bridges on my routes, I'm in a fairly remote area and if I have to I can stay under a bridge until I can get back to my home. Woods... I'm surrounded by thousands of acres of woods that I can walk out into and disappear if needed. There is a river and a resort 6 miles from me, rich people store hundreds of boats there and the river leads out of here. I'm surrounded by about 6,000 hillbillies that I have known my entire life. We all know each other here and we know who doesn't belong here. Town is 15 miles away pop about 10,000, local politicians built them a fancy bunker, if needed I will do what I have to do. There is one of those new Walgreen's on the corner, looks like a fort. I have lived in the woods and on farmland for 47 years, if something happens that I have not prepared for... I have a swing under a large oak tree, I will just sit there and thank the Lord for my time here and kiss my ass goodbye... |

Best way to plan? Good advice so far! Quoting: IndianSpiritWhat are the top 10 things we should purchase besides food and water? I know you said the top 10 besides food and water but here is my list and as far as i'm concerned, number 1 and 2 are most important :) I didn't list the other 8 in order of importance though, LOL. My list is pretty much for being stationary with limited plans to move because i'm in a highly populated city so there isn't many places I can go to that would provide adequate cover. 1. Water 2. Food 3. Shelter/blankets 4. Magnesium stick (for starting fires) and matches 5. Hygiene products 6. Toilet paper 7. Can opener 8. Water purification tablets 9. First aid supplies 10. Medications "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me" Phillipians 4:13 "I shall call upon the name of the Lord who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from mine enemies" Psalm 18:2-4 "In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." What doom are you preparing for? Best way to plan? I am in British Columbia. Where is the best place to live in case of doom? Quoting: IndianSpiritThere is no reason to move, learn what is around you and how you will/can use it. You don't have to buy anything to survive... you however have to want to survive. Everything you need is already around you, open your eyes and apply your mind to the task at hand. You will require water, shelter and food. A escape route. Be humble and not gun ho, stay away from others unless you know them and trust no one unless you have to. The more gear you require, the slower you move around. Hide thing in different locations that you might travel. You don't have to rob and steal... those who ran/moved will have left plenty behind. Cities leave by the least traveled route, even if it is the sewer, everyone else will be on the highways fighting |

Learn online. that will mean moving out of my apartment... lots to do, lots to work on... I should have been more specific... What about things like cooking/baking, sprouting seeds/beans? Plus you can learn about things without actually getting hands-on experience. Things like Gardening/Permaculture and working with wood, metal, leather, etc. Learning about what edible plants grow wild in your area could be very helpful. Best of luck! We'll all need it. |
