Need some serious currency advice.
I currently have $40,000 USD and I'm wanting to convert it to Canadian....should I wait, jump now, what? I was trying to wait until the US and Canadian dollars were par, but all this market volatility is making me nervous. This is all the savings I currently have and I don't want to lose it if the dollar goes down. What would you do? Thanks.

Re: Need some serious currency advice.
I would buy ammo. It'll be the new currency shortly.

Top 12 types of ammo:

7.62 NATO (or .308)
5.56 NATO (or .223)
.30-30
.30-06
.22 (rimfire)
.270
.300 Magnum
12 gauge shotgun shells (from bird to slug)
9 mm luger (parabellum)
.45 ACP
.40 S&W
.38 (or .357 magnum)

With those 12 types of ammo, you'll be able to trade for just about anything when the SHTF.

Without guns and ammo, whatever you have will be taken from you by those unscrupulous people that have guns and ammo.

Or, looking at the 10 year trend for gold...I'd say buy some (I did, but at $670 about 3 years ago)...or silver (I did @ $9 about 3 years ago)

Last place I'd put my money is in fake fiat currencies of the world...think long term and think worst case scenario.

Thanks, fortunately I already have my stockpile of food, seeds, and ammo. I need to know what to do with this cash. I was waiting for the USD and CAD to even out so I could convert. It got up to .99USD = 1CAD at one point today. I just don't want to lose a lot on the conversion but I am nervous to wait any longer.

Plus whatever the bank charges to convert it, which varies greatly. Better ask the rate charge for a wire transfer/conversion compared to a check/convert or such.
10+- years ago that would have been a sweet conversion at 1.60cdn for 1usd.

Yeah, the bank charge is ridiculous. I know I am going to lose money...I was just trying not to lose a great deal on conversion. But now I am nervous with the markets being all crazy.

Take half and buy hard metals - gold and silver - look in your area for a numismatics shop or look online and go to California numismatics.
Then save the rest in a safe in your house - NOT in the bank.

Okay, no real opinions on the whole USD to CAD idea, huh? Guess I am going to go ahead and convert it into loonies and take a slight loss.
