Won the debate? The only thing of substance he said was that he supports Iran's nuclear program - A.K.A. political suicide. Yeah, that's really "winning the debate". Somehow managed to avoid all other major issues as well.

I can't see how anyone would think that he did well in the debate...and we all know that these internet polls do not reflect how the actual primary will turn out.

In your opinion. But not in the opinions of the majority of voters after the debate. It sounds to me like you missed a lot of the debate. He didn't avoid any issues. IN fact, he gave details about issues, exposed lies, spoke about policy, told the truth about the economy, exposed propaganda and war mongering.
He didn't support Iran's potential to build a bomb. He understands why they might want one, and pointed out the hypocracy of the current foreign policy. His point was we need to mind our own business. They are not a threat to us.

While it is true that the poll taken after the debate may not reflect what happens in the primaries, those polls do provide information about voters' preferences early on.
After debates, those polls are indicative as to which candidate resonates with the people, and why.

Maybe you could give the debate highlight video another listen. You missed something when you saw the debates.
Ron Paul's responses all had substance, and all answered other topics related to the questions asked.
He did a great job of taking on other candidates.
Great substance in his responses.
Substance is what the other candidates were missing, as they spoke in sound bites that were repeats of every campaign before them.

By a 4 to 1 margin, Ron Paul won the debate. The reason is this. He speaks about issues in the way I want a President to speak. Honestly, openly, with detail, with solutions, and with the Constitution. And he passionately defends his positions.
