Did Butch Cassidy, the notorious Old West outlaw who most historians believe perished in a 1908 shootout in Bolivia, actually survive that battle and live to old age, peacefully and anonymously, in Washington state? And did he pen an autobiography detailing his exploits while cleverly casting the book as biography under another name?

Just read this in the Telegraph as well...
I have to admit that a part of me hopes it is true even though Butch Cassidy was an outlaw. It's fun to think that he got away...most likely it is the ending of the Redford and Newman movie that spurs that hope.

They said the text contains details only Cassidy could have known.

Those include an account of the outlaw's meeting with a judge in prison in Feb 1895.

Phillips records that Cassidy refused to shake hands with the judge and said: "I must tell you now that I will even my account with you, if it is the last act I ever do."

When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.
