KARMA GUIDE : When? and Why? to give Good or Bad points : For those who are unsure..
I thought it might be a good idea for us to discuss when and why we give
out good or bad karma here on GLP.
Below is an outline I came up with as to why I think people should give out good or bad Karma points.

THESE ARE NOT MEANT TO BE RULES! ONLY A GUIDE with EXAMPLES!

This is just my opinion and is up for discussion.

Please post more examples of why and when to give out Karma and I will update the OP.

Give Good Karma when:
1) A member helps you out by answering your questions or helps you gain a
better understanding of what is being discussed.
2) A member posts unique topics that are relevant to the forum and has not
already been discussed many times over.
3) A member adds to a discussion by posting relevant links or supporting
information.
4) A member posts something that you think is worthy of a green rep, whether it be witty, funny or just something that stood out to you or made you smile.

DO NOT Give Good Karma when:
1) In exchange for recieving good karma from somebody else.
2) Somebody begs for it or continually asks for good karma.
3) Just because you like their member name or avatar.
4) Just because they already have a lot of good karma and are a popular
forum member. (Don't be a suck-up.)
5) They offer you something in return.

Give Bad Karma when:
1) A member makes death threats, threats to hack any websites or other threatening language, toward
ANYONE! (Report to Mod)
2) A member posts spam, advertisements or links to affiliate programs
intended to make them money. (Report to Mod)
3) A member is hateful and results to name-calling, prejudice remarks, or
any other vile hateful speach that is not relevant to the topic being
discussed or personally offends you.
4) A member derails topics and continually interupts with posts that are
completly off topic.
5) A member begs for good karma.
6) A member posts a new topic that has been posted many, many times before
and adds nothing new to be discussed.

DO NOT Give Bad Karma when:
1) You disagree with another member. As long as they are not being rude, hateful or just trolling, disagreeing with them is not a reason to give bad karma.
2) You dislike their avatar or user name.
3) You dislike a particular member.
4) Because someone else told you to.
5) You don't like the topic they are discussing.
6) You do not like their religious, political or world views. (If that is the case, move along)

--------------------------------------------------------

These are just what I could come up with right away.

Please let me know other reasons and I will update the OP.

-Thanks for your help!

I'm just trying to help GLP out, Trinity obviously put this system in place because he felt it would help the site. I'm trying to give it a push in the right direction.

I agree, that is why I hope Trinity will either edit, or pin this thread. Or post something similar, I'm just trying to get the ball rolling and get the Karma system moving in the right direction.

Well as I said before, I am only trying to be a proactive, helpful member of GLP. Trying to support Tryinity's new Karma system in the best way I can.

I've already received a couple bad reps by posting this thread, so obviously some people will assign Karma, however they please. But I do believe that I am doing a good thing for trying to help.. So I will take the hits, though it's not fun :(

The Karma clans (those who take it seriously) will end up holding power on the board. That will force anyone who wants to be taken seriously or heard to take the Karma game seriously too or be sidelined.System is gonna get real. Won't feel like a fun game anymore to those jokers who find the only real option is to play seriously.
