Please show me some evidence that it really exists. Thank you.

Jesus said it will exist at the end of the world, as will the second death for the lost.

Only the Saints go into eternity, and go bodily after resurrection at the second coming. The wicked are slain at that time. Satan is alone on earth for the 1000 years (bound). All else are dead. God returns to earth after the millennium in the New Jerusalem with the Saints. The wicked are raised in the resurrection of the damned. Their judgement will be reveiwed by the Saints during the 1000 years when the books will be opened, so all know why loved ones are not there. The wicked resurrected surround New Jerusalem and are destroyed in hellfire along with the old earth and all sin including Satan. God creates a new earth.

Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.
The only hell that exists is right here on earth.

I am sick and tired of hearing about all fake religious and woowoo crap: Hell, heaven, the rapture, karma, the ascension, the Age of Aquarius (look at astronomical projections: We won't even be entering it for several more hundred years!), etc. etc. ad infinitum.

They're MANMADE FAIRY TALES DESIGNED TO CONTROL PEOPLE.
 Quoting: SmartestOne

And who is doing the controlling? Rome?

The Bible brought down Rome's empire. It does not support Rome's empire.

Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.
I am happy to say that hell is a lie made up by a bunch of greedy preachers. You are going to hell if you don't give me all your money. You are going to hell if you don't sleep with me. You are going to hell if you don't sign over your car and house to me. You are going to hell if you don't come over and clean my house. The list goes on, hell is used as a way to control you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1519375

Originally hell was the stick to heaven's carrot. Most people are donkeys and need the promise of reward and threat of punishment to do the right thing. The average person simply does not have the intelligence to use logic and determine for themselves what is the best behaviour towards others. Later unscrupulous imams, mullahs, priests and preachers used these carrots and sticks to get people to do what they personally or their political sponsors wanted.

There is no physical evidence for God or Heaven aswell, it is about believing.

If it was something we can point fingers on, well, nobody would be here by now, everyone will just busy with doing deeds to not get there ;)

Yes there is.. Moses was here 5000 ? years ago. The Torah says he is a messenger of YHWH one and only creator and God of Israel

Yes there is.. Odin was here tens of thousands of years before, He is ruling Asghard.

Yes there is.. Zeus was here tens of thousands of years before, He is still ruling people from mount Olympus.

I think hell will be that everyone will read your mind in the afterlife. They will know your deeds and your heart just by looking. The wrong you imposed on others, all lies and deceit will be known. Imagine spending eternity with everyone knowing you were a POS! Just a guess though. It would be a hell God could not save you from.

I am concerned that those who believe in the doctrine of hell are afraid to question it. Almost as if it endangers their belive somehow when in reality it would only edify their faith.

Yes there is proof Jesus existed. The link was already posted to all the 1st and 2nd century historians who record Jesus and Christians at that time. Also recorded was Jesus crucifixion by Pilate. All confirming the biblical account. Other SCIENCE and a long HISTORY confirm the biblical account, but not any other "gods".

Also, Moses saw pre incarnate Jesus. The old testament foretold YHWH creator God would come to earth as man, and that is what happened with Jesus.

Islam was a created religion much later. There is no proof for their religion any earlier than 7th century. The old testament does not support Mohammad.

well I'll just bump the thread.

It isn't that I'm against christianity, I just don't see evidence of this ethereal and permanent burning after-life. It just isn't there. So far as what I've seen, it's a made up place for christian's and preachers and priests to put people in their place and keep them fearful. I'm not afraid of the afterlife, even if I were to off myself (or if anyone else around me did), I wouldn't think it's a ticket to hell.

Karma is one thing. Hell? mneh.

So yeah, some people live a sh*tty existence, but is it evidence of a tangible hell? No, that's just a bad luck of the draw, if "luck" and "draw" are even good words for it.

War (religious/political/economic/ecological) and competition holds us back as a species.

We as a species don't need to put others down in order to be put on pedestals (especially when idolizing is supposed to be against the said religion).

food for thought. I don't mean to not ever say the word hell, just hate when people tell me I will go there for not being christian (or more specifically, their brand of christian).

Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.
If there is a heaven, there must be a hell. If you are weighed down by sins during life, why would they go away when you die?

I think most christians have misinterpreted what Jesus really meant when he was talking about hell. As an example, why do you think people become alcoholics? Because they feel so much pain and anxiety due to bad stuff that has happened in their lives, so they have to suffocate and suppress all the bad things with the help of booze. But it eventually comes back and thats why they keep drinking. So if there is an afterlife, then what the f*ck do you think happens when you die? Do you think all your anxiety and problems will magically disappear and everything will be okay? NO! The shit will continue and you will regret that you didn't fix it during life, i.e that you didn't repent. And when you have passed on to the other side its too late to fix everything, its too late to repent. And when you realize that its too late, thats when you will start weeping and "gnash your teeth" in anxiety, the realization of all the shit you have done to yourself and other people, your family, your friends, strangers etc, and that you will never ever be able to make up for it, you will never ever be able to say "im sorry" to them, that you have been separated from God, not because He wanted it, but because YOU yourself chose to be separated from Him, from love. So basically, we choose ourselves to go to hell, our pride prevents us from repenting.

So please, do not deny that hell exists, because it does. We are not living in hell right now and it is not something that the church use to scare people. Jesus wants us to understand how horrible it is to find oneself in hell, thats why He talks about fire and brimstone. Hell is the manifestation of your fears, its the manifestation of anxiety and pain.

I'd have to believe in god to believe in heaven. All I think that exists is eternal flowing energy, which is sort of synonymous with karma, but based in spiritual, conscious, and material (both life and non-living matter) ebb and flow.

Does that mean heaven exists? ...no. I can't believe in god and we can only see a very fractional percent of the universe and even our reality due to human limitations in perception of light.

So I don't feel separate from anything. I feel that I am a part of the whole, no matter how small and insignificant. I would never want my spark to completely die, nor would I want anyone else's spark to die or burn eternally (physical body aside, as we should be allowed to die if/when we want, prior to our life span). I feel as though I'm part of something that will not destroy my soul. These are my feelings and my own belief. Others can believe however they wish.

In any case, to intrude on someone else's belief system to tell them what does exist because of your own belief system makes zero sense.

There are as many belief systems as humans on earth. Nobody has all the answers, no matter what doctors, authors, and hypnotists (etc) have seen in their past.

First of all let me tell you that true alcoholics know what they are doing. Secondly, Dave Allen once talked about the gnashing of the teeth, and I, just like dave Allen, do not believe toothless people will suddenly receive new teeth so they can gnash their teeth. Get a life, ya Swedish git, and get a hold of your own fears.

I used to love to hear about hell. It gave me something to focus on avoiding and to feel good that I was not there. Now I like to think of nicer things, maybe because there is so much hell in the world.

There are different levels and states of hell in the Bible. I guess people focus on what they can handle. Some people watch police and jail shows to understand crime and punishment. I guess hell is like the same thing. You are either interested in it as a possibility for the human condition or not.

You and the youtubes above are mistaken! The Bible says no such thing.. The Bible says "the soul that sins it shall die" and "You are a living soul".. God does not torture his creation for ever and ever in hell flames. Hell fire is the end of the world when all sin is destroyed with this old planet.. as the new planet is created. Those who do not get destroyed continue with new immortal bodies on the new perfect earth. All sin will be gone!

.
.

Matthew 13:24 Another parable put [Jesus] forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man which sowed good seed in his field: 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, did not you sow good seed in your field? from where then has it tares?
13:28 He said to them, An enemy has done this. The servants said to him,
Will you then that we go and gather them up?
13:29 But he said, No; lest while you gather up the tares, you root up also the wheat with them. 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came to him, saying, Declare to us the parable of the tares of the field.
13:37 He answered and said to them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Revelation 20:14 This is the second death. 20:15 And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Get a concordance and look up the original Greek term used for each of these occurrences of the English word "hell". . .you'll find that most (if not all) of them are the Greek word Gehenna, which was the name of trash dump outside of Jerusalem. Jesus was warning those people of a dishonorable resting place for their earthly remains, not some mythical afterlife of torture.

Gehenna was likely piled high with burning corpses when the Romans were done sacking the city in 70AD. Christian believers, meanwhile, had heeded the call to flee the city and mostly escaped such a fate.

Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.

Yeah Sam you know what, I think you are a Jehovah's Witness and a liar. I think you read enough of the Bible and know what hell is about, but you deny it to promote your evil cult. Guess what, hell is waiting for you.

You can be with all of the other liars and deceievers there. God said those who lead even a small child astray would be better off drowned in the sea.

You are in big trouble. So don't tell me I am wrong and misled. You are in league with the author of confusion, Satan himself.

yikes.

Why do you guys have more faith in your precious Hellfire than in the Redeemer to save?

Hypothetically, let's suppose you're correct and sam is a false teacher. . .Jesus said that such errant messangers will be least in the Kingdom of God.
He said that anyone who breaks the commandments and teaches others to do so as well will be least in the Kingdom. You'd think that someone spreading disobedience like this would be headed for damnation, right? That's a pretty serious offense. But Jesus says they'll be part of the Kingdom, even if as lower citizens.

Food for thought.

Re: I'm tired of hearing about Hell.
Jesus and the Bible testify that hell is real. That's proof. Not believing in the Bible will not determine whether hell is real. But if you wake up in hell, you'll wish you'd believed in it. Bible says "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Don't wait until judgment to do so....that will be too late. Just because you don't believe in it does not eliminate it.
