Saturday Night Poetry Thread-Please Come In
Do you secretly write bits of poetry about your feelings? Here is your chance to let the world know. A small thread for those who write.
I'll go first...

'hermit crab'

I am stronger now
letting go of hopes
and sandlewood nights
I clung to far too long

some small solace in the knowing that they're gone
I no longer must pretend to be innocent of
love's wounding possibilities

hiding scars like bad breath
hoping not to be discovered
like a hermit crab caught unawares
changing houses
changing seas
The evil that men do lives after them.

A New Deal Times Two

A New Deal times two
Mapped in red, white, and blue
The colors that unite us
Divide us, they do
As we turn our head
On the issues at hand
We fight with our conscience
As quick hits the sand
While shit hits the fan
And sprays our own eyes
Because we sit while they stand
Juggling jobs overseas
With the palms of our hands
As they cease and soon vanish
In our very own land
For the sake of all men
For the sake of one man
We take what we want
While they hold out their hand
Reach out to grab it
Break it off there and then
But it's all well predicted
With the disposition we're in
Waste not to borrow
With much haste to spend
Is a bad combination
In this minute, my friend
As we did it today
We'll do it again- unless we walk circumspect
We'll stumble and fall
In our paths that reflect
Our very own souls
Some still in tact
If it's a matter of truth
Then it's a matter of fact
In God we trust
Since He trusts us back
To put into motion
To put forth and enact
A New Deal times two
To put us on track

Re: Saturday Night Poetry Thread-Please Come In
All things are fleeting
By C.C. Corry

There are a few distinguishing moments in life when we are forced to look back and see where we have been and where we are destined to go…

Pages from yesteryear clatter in the back of your mind…

Like wind chimes in the distance…

Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.

The sound echoes.

Mostly sweet…

Sometimes sad.

Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.

The wind whips through the hollow of a dying tree…

Echoing… mostly in your mind.

Regret cascades over you for loves that are lost and lessons learned.

Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.

The wind stops still and the sound fades anon.

Your heart stops for that fleeting moment; beckoning the chimes to waken.

The slow and steady pulse resumes and…

The levanta shifts and a new melody is born.

Not quite distinguishable, but still there.

She clears her throat and bellows a new beginning.

Ding Dong Ding, Ding Dong Ding…

All things are fleeting.

Ding Dong Ding, Ding Dong Ding…

It’s time to answer the world’s call.

You call her a goddess, is that truly what you see?
Not the cracked exterior, of a doll of porcelain.
Not the diseased and decaying soul, locked forever within.
What makes you see a goddess, within her broken body feminine?
What is it that somehow, only you can see?
Now that her halo has been tarnished, and her wings have been torn free.

What you see is a deception, a fraud, a lie.
Her mind damaged beyond repair, suspicion forever in her eye.
Love is beyond her capability, for she never knew or cared how,
And as she travels her diminishing life, she'll always believe in the now.
No future for her, for what was a shining light has gone dim,
The good she could have done, replaced by frivolous fancy and whim.

Weep not for her as she is most undeserving,
Of accolades that are more suited to someone more unswerving.
Cast vision of her to the farthest corner of your memory,
And seek someone whose heart is much, much more plenary.
Bid farewell to this "goddess," and send her on her way,
May she exist as a mere shell, until her final day.

This hits home...

"Uncertainties Forever," by Sumeet Mukherjee

All the people in this world
Have their own assumptions
And the biggest uncertainty that I have
Is because of all my presumptions
Though I know this very well
That people have their expectations
The uncertainties exist in every place
Through the darkness of endless limitations

The stumbling blocks that I face
In the darkness of my life
I hurt my body as well my soul
With cuts and bruises in this strife
Then hit my head with an unseen wall
And blood flows out in stream
That warm blood flows through my face
Taking me in a state of dream

People ditch me, they backstab me
And I search for a helping hand
But uncertainties exist forever
As even friends don’t withstand
They promise at first and then leave me alone
To face all the wrath of this fate
And I only seem to wonder
That why this happened so late

They say I misunderstood them
Then why did all this happen in the first place
I don’t want to live in this world
Which doesn’t even recognize my face
Whatever I wanted from you
Was it all so unjustified
That bonds of friendship fall at stake
And when I’m sure that I didn’t lie.

Anyways no problem
You stay happy always
I think I expected quite a lot
I overlook the uncertainties in the way
I told you yesterday that I believe you the most
And you also said to keep that belief
But today I think I took you absolutely wrong
And now I only want a little bit of relief

Why did I expect so much?
When uncertainties are so powerful
Why didn’t I understand this before?
Why my destiny did made a fool
I don’t know what you meant yesterday
I don’t know what you mean today
But I only mean one thing
That I don’t want to live in this way

At one instance I feel I have everything
Another instance I feel that I’m lost

"Inside of Me"

Do you ever get the feeling
The feeling that something
Just
Isn't
Right?

I get that feeling
I know it's inside of me
I know it wants out
I can always
Feel
Its
Claws

Nobody else can know
That I feel the way I do
They would look at me with hate
They would say
You
Don't
Belong

But I know
I know I am the way I am
And nothing will ever change that
I feel the strength coming from
Inside
Of
Me

The Love Who First Loved You

Oh Lord

Should I seek for gold from the highest hills

Or look to love to ransom my heart, so ill

Another takes the peace I would instill

to keep the darkest nights away, against my will

But seek thou YOU

And all will be fulfilled

The ransom true

of holy blood now spilled

E'er to remind me of the costly grace

It took to save me from my lonely place

And now to turn and see His face

To know at once my true Love's dear embrace

Enchanted JOY

For ever more to taste

To now employ

With all desire and all haste

Seek ye first and all will come to you

Hold to Love, to Beauty and to Truth

Do not turn to lies that misconstrue

But hold instead to the Love who first loved you

cycles

It's time to rest and then wake again,
time for new ideas and worlds to begin.

cycles of life, the never-ending circle of the universe
expansion and contraction, dense atoms disperse

Storms are constant, ever-present is the calm
just shifting 'round the globe, like dusk and dawn

you only live one day

be fooled not by the guile of day and night,
be not a victim of fallacy and told what's right.

in your heart -- you have been told and know,
that this whole world is a comedy, the very best show

everyday is the other, not measured in years,
so re-write our script and dry the tears

rebirth

come into new being, able and warm,
lifted up, you feel your spirit transform

shedding the heavy, the tired and old
you expose a new paradise as it begins to unfold

unraveling twines -- the twists and turns of time,
creating a timeless utopia for all in your mind

fabric of time

the sands of time are slipping away,
there never enough in your precious "day"

the fabric of time, like an ancient cloth
let us re-weave it free of sloth

we are in charge of our fate and destiny,
if you would just change the world with me.

Drift Away...Daydream With Me.....

Everyday you are without dreams, is a day poorly spent;
For -- dreaming is exactly for what this life is meant.
To the realist I am nothing but clown and fool,
but to me, he is nothing but an instrument, a tool.

As the dreamer, my world is warm and forgiving,
Spend my days building the creation in which I'm living.
Everyday I dream, and more days still - they become true,
This life is for the compassionate to dream and build anew.

Sometimes I cannot tell anymore if this reality or a dream,
the gods have proven, the two are not as far as they seem.
Sometimes I have memories vivid and clean,
others my world seems blurry and truth unseen.

We cannot help but to laugh amidst the pain,
Existence is nothing but cycles repeating over again.
irony is our tedious undoing- woe are we,
Daydream..nothing seems nearly as bad as it could be.

As for this ironic saying..I will daydream forever so,
if I stopped dreaming, life would stop its precious flow.
"Life is but a dream," says childhood song,
So monumental, yet never lasting long.

If anything is true, you cannot escape death,
so why not be a dreamer until your waking breath.
But you and I will die, to finally be awakened,
Discover reality as we believed is shriveled and shaken.

I dream with my fellows day and night,
praying and creating the world in perfect light.
Become a dreamer and spin the fabrics of time with me,
listen to your heart, you'll begin to daydream and see.

I am always lost in time, some intimate dance,
Building paradise in daydreams, lost in trance.
If anything I profess should stick and stay with you,
"You are a master of this of this world -- daydreaming too."
