The Love Who First Loved You

Oh Lord

Should I seek for gold from the highest hills

Or look to love to ransom my heart, so ill

Another takes the peace I would instill

to keep the darkest nights away, against my will

But seek thou YOU

And all will be fulfilled

The ransom true

of holy blood now spilled

E'er to remind me of the costly grace

It took to save me from my lonely place

And now to turn and see His face

To know at once my true Love's dear embrace

Enchanted JOY

For ever more to taste

To now employ

With all desire and all haste

Seek ye first and all will come to you

Hold to Love, to Beauty and to Truth

Do not turn to lies that misconstrue

But hold instead to the Love who first loved you

Re: Saturday Night Poetry Thread-Please Come In
You call her a goddess, is that truly what you see?
Not the cracked exterior, of a doll of porcelain.
Not the diseased and decaying soul, locked forever within.
What makes you see a goddess, within her broken body feminine?
What is it that somehow, only you can see?
Now that her halo has been tarnished, and her wings have been torn free.

What you see is a deception, a fraud, a lie.
Her mind damaged beyond repair, suspicion forever in her eye.
Love is beyond her capability, for she never knew or cared how,
And as she travels her diminishing life, she'll always believe in the now.
No future for her, for what was a shining light has gone dim,
The good she could have done, replaced by frivolous fancy and whim.

Weep not for her as she is most undeserving,
Of accolades that are more suited to someone more unswerving.
Cast vision of her to the farthest corner of your memory,
And seek someone whose heart is much, much more plenary.
Bid farewell to this "goddess," and send her on her way,
May she exist as a mere shell, until her final day.

Re: Saturday Night Poetry Thread-Please Come In
I remember times before the nuclear races
people didn't care about foreign places.
Stay at home by the phone, don't worry about it.
There are no calls, there are no walls, just foreign places.

O to be in Finland now that Russia's here
O to be in Finland now that Russia's here

I remember times of the nuclear races
people quite concerned about foreign places.
Stay at home by the phone, don't talk about it.
Awaiting calls, from behind the walls of foreign places.

O to be in Finland now that Russia's here
O to be in Finland now that Russia's here

I remember times after the nuclear races
people not quite sure about foreign places.
Stay at home no place to roam, just don't think about it.
There are no calls, only the walls of foreign places.

O to be in Finland now that Russia's here
O to be in Finland now that Russia's here

Not caring is quit daring from the inside
cause once they got you cornered you got nowhere to hide.

O to be in Finland now that Russia's here
O to be in Finland or any place but here.

Re: Saturday Night Poetry Thread-Please Come In
it was a misty morning
the silence of the night
was broken by the light of the sun
the ostentatious sun

it was a misty morning
i work up from a fright
and saw you in the light of the sun
the ostentatious one

it was a misty morning
we held each other tight
you took away my pain but I couldn't shake the fright
the ostentation won

it was a misty morning
we walked across the mead
our feet were wet with dew
it was never meant to be

Crow Falling

December bad moon rising,
January bad moon falling.
Sun will brighten,
Stars will frighten.
Crow landing, crow flying.

December bad moon rising,
January bad moon falling.
Earth will rumble,
Rocks will tumble.
Crow flying, crow falling.

December bad moon rising,
January bad moon falling.
The heavens are roaring.
Condor and Eagle soaring.
Crow falling, crow flying.

I wrote this poem after a strange encounter with 2 eagles and a young crow. I was walking through a clearing in our back property and saw shadows on ground of large birds flying.

I looked up to see 2 golden eagles soaring towards a young crow. It didn't look like he had a chance but he did a strange thing. He stopped flying and went into a free fall. I thought he had a heart attack but before he hit the ground he started flying again and flew into a thick grove of cedars at the edge of the clearing. It was an amazing thing to see.

That night I had a really strange dream that I was flying with crows and below I could see a beautiful, mountainous area near a coastline. There was a full moon in the sky but it was daytime. All of a sudden the whole area was shaking - mountains were erupting. Valleys became mountains and the mountains became valleys. Then huge waves came and completely destroyed the coastline. It was the dream that was the inspiration for the poem.

Re: Saturday Night Poetry Thread-Please Come In
november comes

when the children of summer,
lie dead .... or asleep

and the water in the quarry,
lies cold...still... and deep

lest the buck falls bloody,
to the hunters gun,

you must run like the wind,

deer...

run, dammit, run!
